There is a plug you can add to your OBD2 port (Amazon) which will turn off after a few minutes when you turn off your car. I use it on my VIOFO and it works great. No issues.Like it so far. I used the usb connection on the rear view mirror. I placed the interior camera right below the rear mirror, and the main unit to the right and below the mirror (so basically just below the built in camera module). I ran the rear inside the upper liner to the A pillar, then into the door seal, then to the B pillar back to the C pillar. I probably have 10 ft of wire tucked into that C pillar on the passenger side then in the headliner to the center for the rear camera. Do the rear wasn’t so much difficult, just a bit hard contorting my body in the rear seat to do it.
My only gripe is that I have to manually turn the camera module on/off as it doesn’t always turn on/off automatically with the usb port. I have the hardwore kit but thought I’d try this first.
It had handicapped controls (in addition to the standard ones). Owner said the standard controls DO work unless she hit some combination of the handicapped controls (which is quite possible. Look how long it took her to start and begin moving the car).No brakes in the Town Car??![]()
If I had been able to SEE the rig pulledI'm not a defensive course instructor by any stretch of the imagination.....but in the case of the service truck passing the semi on the shoulder..... Other drivers on the road need to note the circumstance and allow the service truck space to either switch lanes or cross the line a bit.
Fair enough, that truck didn't show up till the last second. If I had been able to SEE the rig pulled
on the side, sure, but I couldn’t from where I was and with the traffic. And you don’t swerve into other lanes if there are cars there! You can’t tell but I had to hit the brakes pretty good there as I was accelerating to move into that gap when he swerved.
at least no one was fired.....“Oh 5mm, you’ll want to get this serviced soon.” (Moron!!!!). I mentioned this to the service manager yesterday when I picked the car up that he might want to have that tech retrained…..
The mirror and lighter are on when the car is on but the car goes to sleep after 30 minutes once turned off. So they go inactive until you start the car again. My camera is plugged into my mirror and my radar detector is in the lighter plug. And leave the car sitting for days with no problem. Are you saying the USB port on the rearview mirror is ALWAYS powered - even after you have turned the car off? If so, many people would say that is a plus! Great for monitoring your car while parked. Also a battery drainer.![]()
They did a multi-point inspection video? Is that required by FMC?Finally got her back yesterday…
Dealship called back on July 3 saying the replacement part was in. I was out of town so scheduled for the repair on Monday.
Monday I show up at 8am. They tell me it should only take a couple hours so I figure I’ll wait and work from there.
2.5 hours later the service manager comes to me to tell me that they ordered the wrong rear bumper cover unit. They didn’t notice I had quad tip exhaust and ordered the one for dual tip (how?!?! Its stock!!! Looking up the vin should have told them that!!!). Sigh. So they gave me a loaner Bronco Sport.
At least it’s finally all fixed back to original condition. But, seriously, after all the idiotic stuff I’m seriously considering switching to Winner Ford instead of Holman, even though I used Holman for a decade with my 2011 Explorer. They just do not give me the warm fuzzies after all these issues.
I didn’t even mention that when they did the oil change on the 29th and the tech sent me the multipoint inspection video, when he showed himself measuring the rear brake pads, he measured the E/drift brake, NOT the rear Brembos!!! “Oh 5mm, you’ll want to get this serviced soon.” (Moron!!!!). I mentioned this to the service manager yesterday when I picked the car up that he might want to have that tech retrained…..
it’s something that dealership has done for years. You get a link texted to you with the video of the tech checking everything. They did a multi-point inspection video? Is that required by FMC?
If they are that inept, you'd think they'd stop the practice. Otherwise, a great idea.it’s something that dealership has done for years. You get a link texted to you with the video of the tech checking everything.
The cutting room outtakes are money. If they are that inept, you'd think they'd stop the practice. Otherwise, a great idea.
So when the video switches from front to the back camera I stopped breathing for a split second until I realized those cars were driving the right direction. Good 7:43AM scare..Posted my first compilation dashcam video of drivers doing stupid stuff… includes where the dealership rear ended my 2024….
