Changed my oem filters at 9k miles and this how they looked like.
With a freer flowing filter this crap would have entered the engine. I'm sticking to oem paper filters and will replace them at shorter than 9k miles intervals.

Yes, but that only works in the car. Reminds me of lungs from the 1930's when smog and pollution was much worse than today

That appears to be the correct part number. I also see Motorcraft calling them the FA2066, same part. Wix (good aftermarket paper filter maker) also makes them, WA11361.

As others mentioned, I also use AFE dry filters. On past cars and my other vehicles, I usually do them or S&B dry units. They've been tested by 3rd parties and proven to filter very close to the paper filter (sometimes better) and flow better.

K&N and a few others are more well known, but they don't filter worth a crap. The previous owner of our Dark Horse had K&Ns on it, and they were disgusting. Ripped those outta there the first day we got it.

Mehhh, I went with the Steeda Pro Flow Air Filters and change them out every 3-6 months depending on how much I am driving. Bought a 2nd pair so when I replace the ones in current use, I can let the washed ones dry for an extended period. Always have a pair on standby. Cost wasn’t a concern. YMMV …

@TheACN ....I love my Roush. The air filters that came with my kit are DRY filters not the crappy oiled ones that clog. After 3000km I just vacuumed them. BTW they can be washed many, many times with very mild soap and warm water. I ordered two extra filters with my kit. BTW ll & FWIW.....I get massive comments about the look. I can hardly wait to see how they look on the 2026 Mustang GT Premium Convertible in Molten Magenta Tricolor I ordered - they should pop with that!

ALL filters "clog" - that's the purpose of an air filter - call it what you like, but trapping dirt, dust, or other debris is: CLOGGING LOL

@jbrnigan ..... a filter only clogs if you allow it to and oiled filters clog a lot faster and can rarely be cleaned properly. Roush and a couple of other filter makers offer freer flowing filters that arguably trap particulates better than paper filters and can be re-used without degradation multiple times......but while you are LOLing I notice you are driving an ecoboost so you don't have enough HP to clog a Kleenex. LOL
