I know how to drive a stick shift, but my wife does not. Personally, I think YMMV with a stick shift. I can see on the high end models that a stick is a must but it also disqualifies a lot of potential buyers.
Just a factoid when it comes to resale: 73% of Mustang special orders are automatic transmissions. I have one and the 10 speeds are incredibly fast at shifting. I have a bad back so I went with an automatic as I don't need to be pushing another pedal and the force up my spine no matter how small. Otherwise, mine would have been a slow six speed.

Nice chatting with you! Wife likes the PP wheels better also (over the $950 option) so that's settled. Please post some pictures when you get your car! I don't think I asked, but what options do you have on yours?
Likewise - it's been a pleasure and I'll be around if more ideas come to mind.

To your question, I'm going all-in on this one. This will be (by far) the most advanced and equipped Mustang on which I have ever spent my dollars. On that, I think the only equipment option I left on the table was the Recaro Seats as I find the standard Touring Seats considerably more comfortable on road trips and I don't want to lose heating + cooling along with the memory feature. Likewise, I didn't select any appearance packages; I effectively created my own appearance theme with free standing options.

For reference, here is the Google Keep note I created so I could ensure the dealer selected the correct option codes from the Order Guide:

And this is how my selections appear on my Window Sticker:

S650 Mustang Few more questions for 2026 Order 810

When you are ready to custom order, knowing the order codes ahead of time tends to avoid errors. Though each dealer is different - some prefer to build the car on Ford's website right next to you in real time and go from there.

If you don't have a copy of Ford's official Order Guide, it's available on this forum:
https://www.mustang7g.com/forums/threads/2026-mustang-order-pricing-guides-updated.169127

It's a bit technical, and the document is not at all required as the dealer will be happy to walk you through the process. Including the link here to ensure the reference is available to you in the event you prefer to be more hands-on with the custom order process. 😎👍

Thanks for the order guide! Will definitely take a look.

Looks like we ordered almost the same options! I'm skipping the red seat belt (no colored goes well with my color in my opinions) but I'm adding the Tire Inflator and Sealant Kit ($95 - dunno, shouldn't I?).

Awesome!

Ditch the Mickey Mouse tire inflator sealant kit. Never heard of it bailing someone out of a flat tire here. Get a Modern real spare and sleep better at night.

Same thinking here. I went from a manual 2016 EcoBoost to a 2019 EcoBoost w/PP+MR and it was at that time I made the switch to Automatic after driving stick for 17 years. An old wrestling injury from college that never healed right came back to bite me right before I turned 40, and it was time for me to face reality. If I wanted the pain to go away and get back to normal sleeping hours, driving manual in any car had to go.

Even to this day, I still miss driving stick.. so much more fun even if it is slower now. But between traffic, performance, and even fuel economy (not to mention durability) the A10 is the superior choice in my view.

Now if the GT came with the Tremec TR-3160 from the Dark Horse....

2024 Mustang GT premium,
Hi,
I’ll give you a different opinion on the magneride.
I have a 24 GT PP with magneride and automatic transmission.
The key problem of the magneride is that you can’t adjust it independently (like you can in a bmw).
Meaning, if you want a stiffer ride your need to put the car in track mode / want softer ride need to keep it in normal mode (the sport magneride setting is very similar to the normal one).

This brings 2 problems:
. If you want a stiffer ride, you need to put the car in track mode … where driving aids are mostly disabled with a « do not drive in public roads » alert in the dashboard. If you are a driver that enjoys speed in safety, you will not to use track mode in public roads, so for all purposes you will get stuck with a too soft magneride suspension (for my taste), softer than the standard PP.
. Also, if you have the automatic, you get « stuck » with specific suspension/gearbox modes.
Ie, you cannot « mix and match ». For instance, I like the normal automatic mode, but find the magneride WAY too soft.
. Finally, in the standard PP you can easily upgrade to more flexible adjustable dumpers if you want for a similar cost (or for stiffer non -adjustable ones for way less money).
Note that I don’t daily the car: if you are a daily city driver, the magneride is a god send. If you track the car, magneride is also a good option: track mode is stiff.
But for weekend fun driving, like what I use the car for … If I was to do it again, I wouldn’t get magneride and would rather install a bit stiffer aftermarket dampers (bielstein or similar).
Just my cup of tea.
Can't you do a custom mode? I have a 2024 PP, magneride and have made custom modes where you have track exhaust, normal handling. I can't say that I have tried adjusting the suspension you can bet I give it a try now to see if I can lol. I don't daily drive it and use it for mainly fun and love the magneride especially for these Michigan roads. .

As someone who grew up in Europe... Someone who used to ride superbikes.... I love manual stick transmissions. Having said that, living in a high density area with a ton of traffic, I love an automatic. Getting older definitely helps also in the convenience compartment. Oh, and the rest of my family.

So yes, a stick is a lot more fun. But I'm with Kaptain: give me an automatic for convenience and family. But I love a good stick (that's what my wife says  ).

Agreed - Space Grey looks better with the black seatbelts for the 2026 model year. I wish Ford had kept the Space Grey color accent on the seatbelts for that interior from the 24 and 25 model years, but can't have everything I suppose. 😉

Regarding Ford's optional Tire Inflator Kit.. hard pass. My personal opinion is that using that thing is a lot like paying your ex girlfriend to shove a pineapple straight up your own personal exhaust pipe and sincerely believing everything will be OK.

Among the punishments included in this optional curse from one of Satan's least favorite bored demons:
  • The use cases are extremely limited: it only works for punctures about 1/8-inch - in the middle of the tread, and must be more than 1.5 inches away from the sidewall.
  • Anything bigger than a household nail cannot be sealed and thus you're now dead in the side of the road. Well, not literally dead, but you might start to wonder what that would be like.
Here's what the Tire Inflator Kit would say to more flat tire scenarios if it could insult your intelligence with words in addition to being almost completely useless:
  • Sidewall damage? Nope! You're SOL.
  • More than one puncture? LOLz u kiddin me beeyatch?
  • Tread less than 1/4-inch? Tire Inflator Kit says "not now michael, i have a headache."
Bonus: the Tire Inflator Kit also completely destroys your tire pressure monitor in the busted tire. Because sure, why not declare fun at beaches stupid and kick down bro's sand castle on your way out.

The Tire Inflator Kit is sorta like Bob at the office knocking papers on the floor as he burps past each desk while on his way to setting the break room on fire by running a microwave filled to the brim with forks and opened cans of beans. Then, while that's cooking, he farts directly into a microphone hooked into concert-grade loudspeakers - thereby blowing out said speakers, turning a nearby unsuspecting cat into a passenger without an airplane, and leaving your hope for humanity out to dry in the rain. And no, later realizing that's where the microwave beans went won't make you feel like you are closer to understanding what happened or encourage you to think you're making progress in this life.

So now, not only do you need a new tire, you get to bend over while the repair ship of your choice searches your colon with sandpaper for that pinapple, confident that you'll say out loud and proud that $350 on top of the not funny cost for that new tire IS actually reasonable, and that you believe the ball gag in your mouth was your idea.

And all of this happens after you've run out of patience from the previous escapade of -- as a normal part of the Tire Inflator Kit repair process -- splattering yourself, your rim, and your paint with goo that comes out of the pressure valve with all the gentle subtleness of being shot in the collar bone by a paintball gun that fired off with no warning as you walked by it down the hall for no particular reason. You'll question what you did to deserve that, but even your most heartfelt admission of guilt won't make it better.

As you might imagine, I have some experience in this arena and I have some concerns about the Tire Inflator Kit. 🙃

My recommendation is give your future self a chance to live a normal life without the Tire Inflator Kit PTSD by making a better choice now. Go with a spare tire that fits Mustangs with Brembo Brakes on the Performance Pack:

https://www.automotiveauthorityllc....-gt-with-brembo-brakes?variant=44013419626753

Your future self will thank you. 😉

Hi,

I finally narrowed down my Mustang journey to 2 specific orders. Need your help one more time!

Why a Mustang?
We need a second car and I always wanted a C8 Corvette. However, that's not practical with 3 children in our house. This will be my belated 50th anniversary present.

Usage
Road, second car at our home, pleasure rides in the summer. Location: Long Island, NY, so need all-seasons tires because of the climate here, and I'm not willing to swap between winter and summer tires every season. Keep it simple.

Minimal specs
  • GT Coupe (V8!)
  • Adriatic Blue exterior with opacity fading racing stripes
  • Space Grey interior
  • 401A
  • Anti-theft package (for insurance discount)
  • 3.55 rear axle or better
  • Active Valve Exhaust
  • B&O
  • All-seasons tires (more on that later)
  • GT style spoiler in exterior color (more on that later)
  • Upgraded wheels (more on that later)

Option A - Non Performance Package
  • 20" X 9" Premium-painted Aluminum Wheels
  • 3.55 Slip Axle
Consideration: if I want the GT Style Spoiler in exterior color, I would need to either:
  • Order the $325 decklid spoiler to have the factory mounting holes (I don't feel comfortable drilling myself)
  • Find a reputable place to order the spoiler pre-painted
  • Hope it fits the factory mounting holes (so far, I haven't found a single such spoiler that is guaranteed to fit). I don't mind swapping the spoilers myself, THAT I can do.
Or:
  • Find a reputable place to order the spoiler pre-painted
  • Find a body shop willing to install this for me (and hopefully do a good job), would order the spoiler delete option in this case since the body shop would do the drilling.
Questions to consider:
  • Will an aftermarket spoiler last as long as the OEM one and will it look 100% identical?

Option B - GT Performance Package
  • GT Performance Package
Consideration: if I want all-seasons tires I would need to have the tires replaced after taking delivery. Should be around $1,400 installed (not sure if the OEM Summer Tires are worth anything in NYS as far as resale so I'm not counting on this). I would be looking at the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus.

Generic Considerations
  • The GT Performance Package option seems to be easier (there are even tire installers who come to your house), but it is obviously pricier. The difference in price between option A and B (including the spoiler install on option A or installing all-season tires on option B) is about $3,500 after tax
  • Resale value: does the GT PP holds it's value better?
  • The GT PP obviously comes with a lot of upgrades, but I'm not sure how beneficial they'll be for my usage.
  • The hardest one to answer: which one looks better? The 20" Alu wheels or the 19" Black PP wheels? Are the black wheels harder to keep clean?
  • None of the dealers I spoke with are willing to help with the after-market spoiler installation or tires 'swap'. The answer has been: make a service appointment after you take delivery of your car and 'we will see'.
  • And yes, I have thought about Red Brembos and MagneRide but I guess you have to draw the line somewhere as far as cost is concerned.

Summary for my questions
  • Which look do you prefer for the wheels? 20" Alu non-PP or 19" Black PP?
  • Any thoughts on my aftermarket spoiler dilemma?
  • Does the PP have better resale value (I am assuming it doesn't matter)?
  • Any other thoughts? Will be placing my order next week!

You asked a lot of questions.
Some you have already answered..
Some of the Options are on the PPack. Such as the Factory Installation Spoiler is already installed.
I believe the 20inWhee come with a Three Piece Strut Tower Brace.
On our 2024 GT I purchased the Three Piece STEEL strut tower brace from a disabled 2024 GT Convertible.
My Dealer only charged me $110.00 + tax to install.
You can definitely tell the difference.
If you have the resources, aka 💰. I would order the 2026 GT 401-A with the PPack.
I believe you get a upgrade suspension, Brembo Brakes, strut tower brace & more..
The Summer Tires are subjective for sure. They shouldn’t be a deal breaker.
I would have purchased the PPack but there were Non on any lot in Denver Co. at the time of my purchase.
The Summer Tire can be stored & recycled..
The Denver Winter Weather is sometimes very Pleasant or a lot of Snow, but the SUN always comes out & melts the Snow in a few days.
Very Low Humidity..
We never drive our GT if the roads are wet or Snow on the road, period!
Good Luck with your decision.
The color of your 2026 GT Mustang stands out,
Like a Diamond in a Goats Ass!

To answer your questions-

Wheels-
20" wheels look great, but won't ride as nice as 19"s because of the lower profile tires. I have driven both and I did notice a difference. Cars with 20" wheels also come with a factory K brace. But that can be easily added to any car with Ford parts for a couple hundred bucks. I added one to mine. I wouldn't let that detail sway me just for the 20's. So ask yourself if looks or comfort is more important.

Spoiler -
Don't over think this one. Get the car you want and add the spoiler you like afterward if you need to. It's not worth ordering a specific package just to get a spoiler. Thats just silly. Spoilers are easily installed and can be painted to match if you want. I added one to mine right after purchase and havent thought about since.

PP value -
It probably will add SOME resale value, especially if its a stick. But not enough to justify the 6k or more price tag if you don't need it. Unless you are going to track the car or supercharge it, the PP won't add anything to your driving experience.

Final thoughts -
Getting the PP just for the spoiler is just wasting money and over thinking. The main pros to the PP is the oil cooler, bigger radiator, and torsen rear end. But if you aren't going to track the car, you don't need any of those things (nor will you even notice them) and it's just its just an expensive brag at that point. Also, the larger Brembos can be had separately of the PP if you really want them. But again, the standard Brembos are more than enough off the track, so at that point your just paying for the color.

Hi,
I’ll give you a different opinion on the magneride.
I have a 24 GT PP with magneride and automatic transmission.
The key problem of the magneride is that you can’t adjust it independently (like you can in a bmw).
Meaning, if you want a stiffer ride your need to put the car in track mode / want softer ride need to keep it in normal mode (the sport magneride setting is very similar to the normal one).

^ this. The fact that it isn't programmable seperate of the drive mode is a downer.

I've had both Magneride and non Magneride mustangs. I didnt like switching to sport mode and having to deal with a stiffer ride when I didnt want it. I also think S650 GT without Magneride rides better compared to my Mach 1 that had Magneride. I know the spring rates are different and that makes a difference. Keep in mind I also daily the car so I prefer more comfort. Magnaride was great on the track and has its place. But for daily street driving, I have never once missed it on my S650.

You can also send your configuration to the dealer right from the configurator... no errors that way either... It worked for me!

And yes, read the order guide as it will give more details than the configurator.

Just for reference. This is my 401A GT non PP. For less than 2k I added the PP wheels and Air Design spoiler.
