At this point I don't care what the name is. The only thing that could tempt me away from the current Track Pack GT500 is a car with better low-end traction (via real traction control or whatever), lower weight, slightly shorter gearing, better weight distribution and an equivalently good/better exhaust note. In other words, a car that's not quite as geared towards large fast tracks and has more short track/road bias. It also needs to be purchasable...
Don't worry the dealers will keep that ADM under $60k 😅

@Thomas

My friend is literally getting his CFTP GT500 cleaned up and ready to sell it so he can hopefully catch the new cobra, figures there will be an overnight value drop on 2020s

Gotta stay ahead of the curve 🫡

Probably nothing, but this was front and center at Ford's reveal for their new headquarters in the machine/modeling section. We're over on another site discussing other clay models we spied that could hint at future models.

This could just be a fun project, or it could be something that signals actual intent, but this is very clearly a modern cobra/Daytona design study, and I'm digging it

If this is a design study, I hope it's a production intent design study.

If this is something that makes it to customers, even in very limited numbers, that tech and/or platform could trickle down to future versions of the Mustang. It's not quite the right dimensions (FM engine setup) but it's a lot closer than the GT was, and you could argue some of what they did there made its way down.

Couldn't agree more. Maybe Ford is thinking they could occupy the space the c7 used to with this new cobra?

Why wouldn’t the new cobra be directly inspired by exactly that.
I actually think that is much closer to what it will look like

It could end looking like the gt3, but seeing as that's what the GTD is, it looks like the gt 500 successor will be more toned down.

Looks like a modern interpretation of the Shelby Cobra. I just don't see much in the way of cooling with that grill for a modern power plant, transmission, A/C etc. My guess is it was put there to divert attention. I feel its something we've seen in the past, but can't find a picture online.

The model in the background appears to be the GTD, not the GT3, but that's just my opinion. Either way, why would they display the GTD clay model other than to put something out for people to see. The car was announced in Jan.

I like to disassemble things.
Bear in mind that Tremec recently announced that they developed a 6 speed to fit in the C8 Corvette
Link to said announcement?
I hope they say screw the performance aspects, focus on the fun and driver engagements.

But I didn’t know emissions played a role
They do not, in so far as a continued progression of the most recent standards. This Administration put a halt on them for now.

Had not seen it elsewhere.

I suppose Ford would be happy to offer it as a choice, however counterproductive from a performance perspective, on the next MY GTD.
