What? Having a different opinion is offensive to you? I know there are a lot of hateful people on this forum. And I know if you have an opinion outside of what is expected, you are subjected to bullying. So thanks for showing some restraint even though your inclination is to be hurtful and/or belittling.
Having a different opinion is not at all offensive to me, nor was my inclination intended to be hurtful or belittling.

It simply appears to me, and it is entirely possible that I am wrong in my assumption, that you don't have much knowledge about, or experience with, how different the living conditions can vary across the country we live in or how deciding to run an EV over a design that has proven itself for more than 100 years could mean the difference between life and death when you and your car get stranded out in the middle of nowhere and its -40F outside (could be up to -100F with windchill). I've lived in CA and lost count of how many people I met there who had never been out of their home state. It's not meant to be a dig, it's just what I've experienced.

So yeah, I have my opinion about EV's and all of their shortcomings, and you are more than welcome to have yours. I don't feel like there is any amount of debate that is going to change either of our views about them, and that is all that was intended by my initial comment. Let's just leave it at that.

Thank you. Well said. Yes cold conditions are a serious issue with EV’s. But in California we spend a lot of time gridlocked in traffic. Amazingly the EV’s range increases the slower you go. Which is the opposite for ICE. Smog is a real issue as well and there are a lot of real health issues from breathing in the pollution. In North Dakota, I would imagine that a daily commute of 14 miles wouldn’t take 45 minutes each way( unless in snow). The world we live in here on the west coast it’s a daily reality and worse if there is an accident which then it could take two hours to get to your destination. So an EV makes sense here. BTW our EV’s are Mach-E’s. Ford nailed it! It’s an amazing vehicle. I took mine to an AX and matched the top 5.0 Mustang GT within .01 seconds. That’s a car that weighs 5,000 lbs on 245’s square. The electric engine is 600+ hp and tons of torque and no wheel spin on hard acceleration. The brakes are huge and the car can stop on a dime.

Take care, I hope that you and yours weather the calamity I witnessed today in the Senate.

These threads are hilarious… “Larry bird is not walking through that door”

We are here now, everything is constantly changing and moving forward… worrying about car nannies…
It’s not for you… go buy a small block no Nannie’s early 60s through 00s car… that day isn’t coming back

you can't blame this on the manufacturers.

Everyone screams because we can't get a $10,000 Toyota pickup here in the North American market that is available elsewhere

Why?

Have you ever read FMVSS 108

That are the design and equipment standards the Feds mandate, right down to where the mandated 3rd brake light has to be placed on a vehicle

Laminated windshields are the result of people going thru the front glass in the days before seat belts and cutting their jugular veins

Seat Belts.....

Air Bags

TPMS sensors ( Thanks Ford, Thanks Firestone)

laminated side glass for to keep the glass from shattering and people getting thrown out of the car in a rollover accident.

rear back up cameras so you don't run over the kid behind the car

last I heard crash avoidance was going to be mandatory so you will have fewer rear end accidents

Oh 5 MPH bumpers.... thank the Feds for those too

Then there is C.A.F.E. and pollution controls.... EGR valves, gas tanks that are not vented, no more carburetors

99% of the stuff you see on cars that you say you don't want to pay for are there because the Feds or California and the other states that use CARB standards ( Massachusetts and others) forced it on the manufacturers.

Cripes FMVSS 108 specifies (MANDATES! ) what your high beam indicator looks like on the dashbord including the color of the bulb (blue)

PS Electric power steering and ECM based alternator control ( your alternator is not always on) was part of reducing parasitic drag on the motor when running.

Electric fans too, and now you are seeing a trend towards electric water pumps especially in racing to reduce the load on the engine.

A good old fashioned fan mounted to the water pump is a good 15HP drag on the motor so reduce that and fuel economy goes up.

Above a certain speed airflow across the radiator provides enough cooling, and the fan is just sucking HP and burning fuel.

Your car really pops!

I was in Daytona for the 24 hours in 2007.

I remember the weather being mid 70s in winter. Your convertible is idea for your location. 👍

This was the car before it, a 07 GT Premium 4.6 auto and Ford got it right by offering a light colored roof and interior that is good for SW Florida in the fall/winter/spring.

I got it in late 2020, with 8400 miles on it, I sold it in April 2024 with 14,049 miles on it.
