So far so good with the new tune!Keep us updated I’m thinking of getting the same tune from DRP
So did you try E85 yet?So far so good with the new tune!
Ray (DRP owner) is so great to work with. Super fast to respond and responses are not super vague like I’ve had with other tuners in past.
Had my RTD4 in couple days , sent him factory file last night and had the tune this morning in time for me to load it at lunch.
I had 1/4 tank of ~e20-25 in the tank. First test drive I noticed the A/F was at 12.5-13 when it normally is at ~14 on stock tune even with e30 in tank so the flex is working for sure.
Car definitely pulled harder, noticeable. So I can’t wait to try higher Ethenol soon.
One thing I noticed and talked with him about is that throttle response seemed similar to stock. He says he can change that in the tune if I want.
I already had a Soler performance throttle controller which I turned back up to remedy this.
I may just keep that in place and not have him mess with tune.
I like having full control on the fly with that device.
I data logged once and had response in an hour.
I’m very happy and highly recommend DRP Motorsports.
The Flex is super convenient and Ray has it figured out.
I will update once filled up on E70, maybe tonight.
Yes sir…. I had about E20 in the tank when I flashed the tune. Did some data logging and all was good, now I’m e70 and Ray said she’s running good at 29degree timing. So did you try E85 yet?
Can you tell a significant acceleration difference as compared to running it on 93?Yes sir…. I had about E20 in the tank when I flashed the tune. Did some data logging and all was good, now I’m e70 and Ray said she’s running good at 29degree timing.
Pulls hard and runs so smooth on E. Hard to explain but the engine is just smoother at high RPM’s
A/F is high 9’s to 11
Bro you are about 3-4 degrees short on spark. Thats 93 tune spark. Stock is 25-26. A conservative e85 tune should be a solid 32*. If not more if the car likes it. I wouldn’t go further but I’ve seen logs from other tuners shit with 33-34* and one at 35. That’s bananas but 32 is like the gold standard.Yes sir…. Different ratio with e85isn't an AFR of high 9's to 11 awfully rich or is that the difference when running E70? never ran E so I'm still learning.
Well , I really don’t know what’s appropriate and safe. Maybe Ray can elaborateBro you are about 3-4 degrees short on spark. Thats 93 tune spark. Stock is 25-26. Hey we all have our thresholds as to what we are comfortable with putting out in the world, especially with remote tunes from across the country. So I dont fault him. I know Ray is a great tuner and Flex tunes are a pain in the ass, so if he can do them well then more power to you guys. I just hate dealing with folks trying to use them as true flex tunes. Especially those that dont want to let the car learn up or down the e content, and just want to gas and go racing.Well , I really don’t know what’s appropriate and safe. Maybe Ray can elaborate
I think the part you fail to see is some people don’t want to constantly flash tunes. I don’t drag race. I want a fun car for the street that I don’t have to worry about my ethenol content through 4-seasons in the Midwest .Hey we all have our thresholds as to what we are comfortable with putting out in the world, especially with remote tunes from across the country. Once we get PCMTec engaged here to do a real flex set up with a real sensor, then I will be happy to offer them. But I was burned bad a few times on the gen3 FF tunes when those were all the rage, and I like a lot of tuners, said no more. Its too easy to run down a tank of E. top off on 93. Drive a bit, then flash to your 93 tune. I've done it for years. And nobody I've tuned has any issues with doing this. I always say wait about 5 miles and then stop somewhere safe and flash the new fuel's tune. Then from there you should be covered.
I have done transition tunes for guys that are really picky. Make an E50 tune thats like in the middle of both fuels, so you can use that as a step up from 93 or down from E85 if you are in a tight spot and need to get gas well before you are on E. Just cut down some spark from the E tune and set the stoich accordingly.

I for sure fail to see that especially when you’re currently getting 93 octane tune spark on what is essentially an e70 tune. That’s leaving a shitload on the table for what? Because you don’t want to spend 1 minute flashing another tune that is on the phone you carry in your pocket 24/7? You act like this is rocket science and you’re writing code for hours to get the car to run. I hear your sentiment, but the rationale is a bit skewed. I’m trying to not push into Ray or his tuning, no but. I just want to reiterate that the entire reason to run an e85 tune is to take advantage of all that extra spark potential. And being a flex tune, they usually don’t reach those levels of potential because of the short comings of learned AFR. You’re seeing it here in real time. Glad you’re happy but when you want more, you’re a static E tune away from some more substantial power increase with 3+ more degrees of spark. Even at e70 you should be more than good at 31-32*. And with E you can lean her out a bit as well.I think the part you fail to see is some people don’t want to constantly flash tunes. I don’t drag race.
