They slapped an extra pair of mufflers on the car, probably due to noise regulations in Germany. See them sticking out of the back?

What's with the rear rims, fender flare trim, and exhaust outlets? It may help the track timing, but they're butt ugly!
The normal GTD was using those same exhausts when testing to reduce noise and meet track noise restrictions, they aren't production. The canards and wheel covers are to improve areo.

Imagine buying a GTD, thinking it's a limited edition car that goes up in value and beating many cars on the Nurburgring and then seeing that the GTD get's an upgrade, visually and technically, just a couple of months later because they lost from Chevy.

I get what you're saying but that's basically a guarantee in the high end car world lol. There's almost always a faster, more aggressive version at some point. It's happened with just about every high end performance car I can think of.

This is not "at some point".

This is a mistake by Ford, that they try to correct directly after the mistake while they sold the mistake car to "exclusive" buyers that thought they would have a top notch car. Just to find out that Ford fixed the mistake by making a better version of it.

I would agree with your comment if it was a newer model in a couple of years, not a couple of months.

As a marketing guy, Farley just knew after the Chevy run (and his comment after) that a hotter GTD would get eyes. I agree with you though.

Why didn't they put a "racing stripe" on it? That's always good for a few MPH and seconds! 😉

PS Man; I WANT those mufflers for my GT!

They got speed tape all over… and I LOVE the aero disks in the back…

They are gonna crush the previous best… I’m expecting this new lap to be a mic drop.
I'm guessing high to mid 6:40s if it's already putting down a 6:52 before the extra downforce and presumably power.

I mean...let's be real did people really think there wasn't going to be a hotter variant of the car in the works regardless of what Chevy was doing, given that its basically standard industry practice to release a limited edition car and then an even more limited, higher performance variant? Or maybe 5, if your company name is Lamborghini?

One thing I'm noticing is the front rims are quite similar to what we've seen on the Cobra/Cobra-equivalent prototypes. If that's indicative of anything, I wonder if maybe there's parallel development going on... maybe this hotter GTD will lead to an immediate trickle-down effect. It's a stretch, but I do wonder.

Exactly. That’s how it works. The GTD had its development cycle, met its goal, and now the next variant is in development. Pretty normal cycle for supers or heck cars in general

if people thought the GTD was a one and done car then they clearly haven't been paying attention, the GT started in 2017, had a track only version in 2019, had a revamped road version in 2020, and had another, even crazier, track only version in 2023.
