Hi,

I randomly get "hold steering wheel" warning on cluster while driving (twisty highway so I am actively steering), the same one that would come up if adaptive cruise control with lane centering was active. I don't use lane centering or cruise control, but do have the options. Is this typical behavior? It starts with a yellow warning and goes to red, and disappears. I am holding the steering wheel when this happens.

If it matters, forscan lite shows these saved codes:
- U0415, ABS module, not present (historical)
- U0131, Power Steering Control Module "A", not present (historical)
- B12BA, not present (historical)

I will bring this up to dealer eventually during the next oil change, but i won't need an oil change anytime soon so i wanted to ask if this is something other members have seen or not.

My 2024 dh does it also with both hands on wheel. Thanks for the tip to turn it off.

Double tap the lane assistant button on the wheel, to turn it off.
Unfortunately you cannot turn it off permanently (it will turn back at next startup).
It's now part of my startup procedures (speed alerts and lane assistant).
And yes, it's "bugged" on the S650 (on S550 it was working OK): it asks to you to keep your hands on the wheel, even if you have your hands on the wheel (there's no sensor, it senses the wheel torque, so if you're on straight road and not moving the wheel for a while, the thing start to warn at you). There's other threads talking about it.

I like the lane assist. It forces me to use blinkers on lane changes, which turns it off temporarily.

(I don't doubt you.)
That method I listed above worked for me, I haven't had any warning for over 6 months.
I have driven plenty of straight highway miles.
I did turn it off when the car was in acc mode, not running. I then turned the car off and exited the car. Maybe a software update changed something?

Double Ewe.
Tee.
Eff.

You're from New Jersey?
Everyone in Texas uses their blinkers, sometimes MILES in advance of the turn :-)

In case you haven't tripped over the myriad of threads about this, the hands on wheel alert is looking for rotational input; IOW, jiggle the steering wheel and the alert goes away.

With method above you mean turning off the driver assistant? Yes, it'll be "permanent", but you gonna turn off all the driving assistants, you cannot selective disable just the lane keeping warning, nor solely the speed alerts unfortunately, hence why I disable them at every start.

Correct. I learned this very quickly and it's part of my pre flight now too.

Here's a question, should you indicate when there's no one to indicate your intentions to?
And, why?
OK, two questions.

I feel like i have a super power. I notice that if noone is around that i'm invisible and i can do all kinds of things. Not using my blinkers is one of them.

Just be careful of that power. I guess you've heard about Wonder Woman and the Invisible Man were having sex when Batman flew over and the rest is just too graphic.
