Its not always about speed guys! Emotion! Ive owned all the fast Italian and German cars, I still have a Maserati MC 20 Cielo. Fast crazy, But when Im driving my mustang, and pulling through my 6 speed manual gears, the biggest smile is on my face the whole time, My wife even said to me the other day, you love this Mustang more than past cars, yes I do, plus, I get more dumbs up from passing people and at gas stations more than my exotics. And when i park it, I will always look back! Thats emotion! Thats American!

I don’t really like new corvettes. A 1967 Stingray with side pipes YES!

I have owned a Dodge Hellcat and Demon. I really enjoyed both of those cars.

I'm with you on Corvettes. The newer ones remind me of Legos too much. They're a monstrosity in aesthetic design compared to a '67 Vette.

What also amazes me is how people go out and buy a Mustang then start criticising it before they even get home with it.

Also, where, besides a race track, do people with all these mods and tricks to make a car go incredibly fast go to enjoy that speed? We all know the answer.

What’s crazy about the plaid is how easy it runs a low 9 second quarter mile.

When I was growing up going to the dragstrip a low nine second car was completely gutted, tubbed, with a roll cage and built to Just go down the quarter mile.
Yep, and it had a spool, and you definitely didn't drive it to the track!

Lol you’re a funny and not very bright guy. I never said that the Mustang with keep up with my other cars.

Not that I need to prove anything to a keyboard warrior. But…

Maybe you are the 17 year old dreaming.

cheap?

US designed car interiors are like children's toys compared to almost any other manufacturer on the planet, except for cars that are destined for the US Market.

The interiors of every toyota I have owned in the last 20 years, and I have owned 5, are far superior to any Ford I have owned in the same time period and that number is also 5

If you watch any of the Top Gear re-runs when it was Clarkson, May and Hammond, any time they had an American car in a comparison to a Euro car, the universal complaint was the cheap plastic and textures in the US cars.

The worst American car I ever owned as far as interiors go was my 94 Corvette

The best car I ever owned as far as interior was a Porsche

While I'm sure that there is plenty of discussion to be had about how the current-gen Mustang stacks up against these other vehicles performance-wise, this thread seems to just be an opportunity for @buddyg to gloat about his past/present vehicle ownership.

Certainly an interesting way to approach this topic.

Wasn’t meant to be, just a comparison of different cars. You don’t have to click on the thread or read any of it that’s the wonderful thing!

You have a choice!

@buddyg I'm glad you were able to own all your great cars. By saving on razor blades over the years must have added $$ to the toy fund. I think I am going to stop shaving and see what toys I can get. Geat having you here.😃

any internal combustion car is going to be a disappointment after owning a Tesla S Plaid

Nothing with wheels ( and no wings, slats or ailerons) accelerates like an EV, and the top of the food chain without going into hyper cars is the Plaid S

And as far as "sports" or performance cars go, you probably would have been better off in a mid level C8
You've obviously never piloted a tuned super bike. All the major liter bikes are capable of 9 second quarter miles with a rider of moderate skill. You don't even need a new one, 10-15 year old liter bikes are 9 second capable and can be had for $10k-ish.

I agree the plaid is crazy fast and comparatively easy, and frankly, less scary. Launching a 1kcc+ bike with 180+ rwhp is violent, fun and a bit frustrating until you get it right.

but bang for the acceleration buck, they're tough to beat.

I totally get that. I've owned BMW M series cars and other European cars and, to a car, they all feel like they were engineered and made for shorter distances on European roads. I drive long, to very long distances sometimes and I find the right U.S. made car for me is much more comfortable.

I have a buddy who owns a 911 and Ferrari Maranello. He's just a regular dude who likes a wide variety of cars. Both are amazing cars for very different reasons. It's crazy how jealous and stupid some people act when you drive a car like that. Especially when most of us would drop serious coin on similar cars if we had that kind of disposable income

Anyway, yeah the Mustang is a serious performance downgrade from those 3 cars mentioned. But obviously we are comparing Apples to Oranges. So no flamimg needed here. But yes, a super charger will help A LOT. Enjoy.

As for the interior comments - the 7th gen Mustang is significantly better inside than the previous two generations. But it's still an American car. Most imports have better build quality and design inside by far (Ferraris do not lol). I do think Toyota interiors are extremely bland and boring though. The new Hyundai's are absolutely killing it with luxury and build quality.

Shit, my new Mustang feels like a Lincoln compared to my 06 GT. Nice cushy leather seats, nice leather trim, plus an amazingly smooth and cushy yet firm ride. Plastic parts don’t feel cheap to me for the most part.

You want cheap feeling plastic? I bought a brand new 98 Camaro Z28, and the interior was such an expanse of bargain basement plastic, and basic seats, I traded it in a few years later just because I couldn’t stand the interior anymore.

Comparing an American Muscle car to an Italian exotic is definitely apples and oranges. In many ways comparing a scalpel to a hammer.

….all that said, good for you Buddy for having some very cool cars! as the saying goes… “Life’s too short to drive a boring car.”🙂
