I‘d love to see the crown Vic make a return. Those cars were great! The problem is the Charger is closer to a Crown Vic than a Mustang.

My wife says that guys with big obnoxious trucks do it to try to compensate for something else of theirs that's really smallTrucks are killing young people too. They mortgage all the assets they and go into massive debt have to buy a $70 to $80k 4wd truck, lift it, buy $4K wheels and tires for it, throw mods at it, and live in a shack with a fat girlfriend or with their parents. It's a contest with young people. As someone else said, it's a demographic issue as well as non-familiarity with the fun a muscle car can bring. On that, it disgusts me to now and then see a high schoolish kid throw paint and mods at a used ratty mustang. That hurts all of us as far as image goes.
Ford doesn't market Mustangs any more for some reason but they darn sure market F150's, Explorers, and the cheaper end of their line for CAFE purposes. I still stick to my premise that people are in WAY too much debt because of we know who.....
What is he laughing about?Amen. Never seen a company with more recalls. My son is a Ford tech at a dealership and laughs, and laughs, and laughs.
While adding even more weight, cost, complexity...Add a 4WD mild-hybrid version (like the 4 Series and the CLE) and the car may sell better. It improves the launching, the handling, fuel economy and solves the winter driving issue that keeps some people from considering the Mustang.
I will agree that winter driving is a con, on sport car sales. I cant remember, but Dodge had the Challenger GT and idk if that really bumped them or not.Add a 4WD mild-hybrid version (like the 4 Series and the CLE) and the car may sell better. It improves the launching, the handling, fuel economy and solves the winter driving issue that keeps some people from considering the Mustang.
Still love my 650 though!
That’s possible. It could also go the Jeep and Bronco route where the 4 door version supports the 2 door/purist version’s existenceThey won’t combine sales like that. Lmao. I bet they’ll be separate and the coupe sales will decrease quicker from cannibalization. (Just like in other eras where manufacturers made 2 or more cars that all did similar things)
The fact that he spends more time fixing recalls than fixing actual customer issues. What is he laughing about?
That’s a completely different segment though and situation. A SUV only being a coupe in today’s market with a whole bunch of 4 doors is like tying your arms behind your back sales wise. That’s possible. It could also go the Jeep and Bronco route where the 4 door version supports the 2 door/purist version’s existence
I literally just bought my GT Convertible new this summer and I think a $60k mustang is moronic and stupid. I got mine for $53k loaded. If it had been $60k+ I’d have skipped it entirely.![]()
In a different thread someone posted this. Analyzing the chart sales were between 60 and somewhat 80K a year for the last 16 years. Only period exceed this was when the S550 hit markets and offered a truly new (driving) experience. Besides, it had a much improved interior and a vastly superior design (personal opinion).
However, the S550 was fresh and new 10 years ago, everyone who wanted one got one or two or even more. Even if they updated the S550 on frequent occasions it remained an S550 and S650 isn’t any better than a S550.5 or something. Yes, it looks somewhat different, has a partially updated interior and drives a little bit better but that’s it. Still a good car but for someone who likes to buy a new car every 4-6 years the S650 doesn’t offer anything substantially new. Most buyers want a ‘new’ experience when they have to spend a lot of money and coming from a S550 and looking for a new experience the S650 doesn’t get the job done. Apart from the minority of buyers, who are the majority on this platform, people are genuinely not excited about a 60K Mustang that isn’t substantially better than what we had 10 years ago for 40K.
Agreed diff segment but the same logic applies. Having a more practical version of a vehicle with a similar look feel and function of the purist version. There are some who can’t afford a mustang as an extra vehicle, but if it could double as a family hauler as well they could do it.That’s a completely different segment though and situation. A SUV only being a coupe in today’s market with a whole bunch of 4 doors is like tying your arms behind your back sales wise.
That analogy would work if say the Focus was a 3 door hatch and you make it have a 5 door option when small affordable cars had a big presence.
