In most cases, that’s not why the gears fail; also, the supercharger should not cause vibration. If it is, that’s a different problem.

Almost always, a dramatic change in load, like dumping the clutch or launching the car at high rpm while not moving is the reason for failure. Bouncing the rpms off a two step and then launching the car can also cause failure.

The stock gear has no issue spinning at high rpm. It’s the combination of high rpm and sudden load changes that can crack the metal.

You Are not concerned about the oil pump gear shattering at high rpm from the vibration of the supercharger?
No. If it were a real issue then Whipple would include it in the parts package that comes with the blower. Out of the 200+ superchargers that LFP has done my salesman stated not one had come back with a failed OPG.

And if it grenades I’ll pull the engine and build it. It’s not a daily. It will probably see 1500-2000 miles in the next 2 years.

They promised the vehicle by 9/9 so if I don’t have it by then I’ll take your advice.

I currently have mine waiting for the calibration as well at LFP. They have been really responsive and have been giving latest updates though, really great folks over there. Hopefully it can get resolved soon..

I have been running a Whipple on my Dark Horse for about 16 months 3100 miles and have been having no problems. Just fun.
