I need some help with my gauge cluster memory.

If I select a particular gauge cluster in the options, my gauge cluster doesn't hold the memory and keeps changing back when I restart the car. And today I discovered it happens when I use the memory seat button too.

Today I switched to the Track cluster. 3 out of the 4 times I restarted the car, the gauges went to SVT Cobra. I never even had it set to Cobra gauges before I changed to Track. Then, twice while I was at a stop, I adjusted my seat and saved the position in the memory button. As soon as I hit the button the gauges went to SVT Cobra. And it happened everytime I subsequently tested it. This does not happen when the cluster is set to match the drive mode.

Is there a memory function that programs the seat and the cluster somewhere? I looked at all the settings and can't find it.

See Personal Profiles in the manual. Try removing all and starting over?
Yeah maybe. I found an old thread on this. Its seems to be a known glitch with the profile feature. If I use another memory button, it reverts to guest and doesn't change the cluster. 🤷‍♂️

I'm also getting an update right now. I discovered my auto updates were turned to off for some reason. Maybe that will fix it.

I deleted my profile and reset it. No change. The gauges still go to Cobra when I use memory 1.

If I use memory 2 it defaults to guest profile and doesn't change.

Three manual attempts to update have failed. Each time Ford pass says the update was interrupted. No idea what that's about. The info on the update says it has to do with engine warning lights. Anyone familiar with this one?

I had a random glitch 2 weeks ago where gage light colors went back to default. While resetting I played with gage cluster packages. Chose cobra for a day, then went back to “Normal” gage. Next day it went back to Cobra on it’s own. I reset to “Normal” again and it held.

But motion sensor keeps defaulting to “On” even when I keep selecting “off” every few days.

So, as far as I can tell, it’s random.

Updates can’t be done if battery is below 80%. don’t know if that’s your issue, but I regularly put both our cars on Battery Tenders, which will always keep the batteries topped off, more than an alternator can do.

Changing my updates from Ford to only two days a week instead of daily seemed to help.

I too have my battery tender on every day, so my battery is always near 100%.

Since I changed my settings I’ve not had a reset problem.

I called Ford pass and they checked into the update problem.

They said they are showing the battery is below the required charge to complete the update. How this is possible when I drive the car every day, I have no idea. Guess I need the battery checked now.

These new cars are very hard on batteries. All of the electronics put a big drain on them.

Your car is basically a computer that is draining your battery 24/7.

These car systems will always require a battery tender even if you drive your car daily or not.

AZ Ryan have you checked your battery with a volt meter after you have driven it or when the Ford updates are scheduled? If not then you should!

Mine is a daily driver. It's about 15 miles one-way for me. I put it on a charger ever 3 months, when I hook it up it says I'm at a 50% charge. There's a noticable uptink in use of auto-start/stop when the battery is fully charged.

Told ya…. 🤓

No…it’s not.

An alternator never brings your battery up to 100%. It’s not good enough on these new cars. My wife’s new Lincoln went into battery Protection Mode one day. We called Lincoln concierge, and within an hour a tech shows up. Turns out it was a friend of mine I know for over 20 years. He works for the tow company that has a contract with Ford. He said his entire day is spent jump starting batteries that go dead or dormant on new cars. he bought a new Nissan Kicks and said his battery drains all the time too. All he had to do was put the jump pack on for a minute to wake the battery up. I since have bought that same jump pack.

I once had an alternator fry on my 72 Camaro at work. Drove it home 45 minute ride no problem. Had an alternator go bad on my 91 Z28, didn’t make it around the corner.

Nowadays….if you don’t put your car on a battery tender, expect low voltage issues at some point.

When I put either of our NEW cars on the Battery Tender, it will have the full charge red light on for sometimes a full day before going into flashing green trickle.

Whether you like it or not, Modern car manufacturers do not supply a battery and recharging system that is equal to the drain modern electronics put on them. This was told to me by the tech who has to drive all over town jumping new cars.
