I think it turns it down, not sure how much though , would be nice to know what it does do.
I think it would be help to know what the exact difference is between the two. Does stereo turn off the center speaker?

yeah I am liking surround now that I have used it for a couple days.
follow up question, how many of you have it set to all speakers or to driver ?
I have it set to all speakers currently.
Where IS this option for all speakers or driver or whatever? All I see is a balance screen where you can drag everything to the center (which I have). Or you can drag to back or front. Is that what is being talked about here? Or is there some other setting screen I've missed?

the all speakers or driver only setting is right above the surround or stereo setting.
click settings, then sound, then you will see all the options for sound

Is that on the 2024 only? I have a 2025 and there is no such settings. Just the stereo/surround and the graphic you can drag the speaker intensity around with to set it all up front or all behind or all right in the middle (where I have it). Nothing about driver or passenger, etc. Oh, only other thing is a "reset all" area.

I'll have to try surround now.
I find the B&O system fine. My hearing is a bit stuffed when there's ambient noise, so the clarity of this system suits me well.
A lot better than the Beats system I had in the last car.

I have no such setting either. I think thats on the base sound system only.

I have the B&O 12 speaker system and I am pretty sure I don’t have a “Driver Setting”, so it must be only an option for the 9 speaker system.

I did not know the B&O did not have the all speakers or drivers option, yeah my 9 speaker does.
I now have it set to surround and to driver, sounds pretty good so far.
wonder why they don't have that option on B&O? seems like about the same setup other than the subwoofer, different amp, 2 way rear speakers.

I have the 12 speaker system. I drive convertibles, so I rely heavily on the subwoofer to keep music from sounding washed out and tinny when the top is down.

For awhile, I thought my subwoofer was broken…. I had my treble and midrange set all the way down, and my bass turned all the way up just to sound mostly normal with the top down. It was still on the treble side.

I was seriously a day away from setting up an appointment with the dealership to have them check it out. Then I ran across the aforementioned Stereo/Surround Sound toggle. It was set to Surround. As soon as I set it to Stereo, BAM! There was my subwoofer! It was like night and day.

Music is generally recorded in stereo anyway, not surround sound. Surround is typically reserved for movies. When you listen to music with a headset/earphones/earbuds on, you only have the left and right (Stereo) channels since you only have two ears. Yes, you CAN get simulated Surround Sound with an expensive headset, but until such time as I can play movies on my car screen, I'm not missing any of my music experience with the car set for Stereo.

Your understanding of surround sound is highly lacking. But if you prefer stereo then that's all that matters.

All that said, I now want to go set my setting to Stereo just to see if I get more subwoofer.

I put it to Surround because it’s more spatial, but never took the time to really listen closely to the differences, like more or less sub.

Interesting, yeah think I will try stereo setting on my way home tonight, mine is the 9 speaker but see if there is more bass or not. I also have my mid and treble all the way down and my bass is around 60 percent from max or so.
