Heck. I've had more Fords than anything else. I've had more problems with them. Cracked manifolds (plastic junk). Plastic parts were made for toys, and AR-15s. The parts fail, and antifreeze spews out all over. All my Crown Vics and Eddie Bauer Explorer had this exact problem. But I do like my DH.

Bought a 24 mustang end of April, since then my headlight went out which took the dealership 2 weeks to fix then about a week later my windshield cracked and now the car will shut off while I’m driving and the interior lights will cut on and off by themselves constantly. Terrible first experience. I love the car but god it has been nothing but problems
Yup. Never buy the new updated model. Always wait a year or two so the gremlins can be worked out. I learned that one the hard way.

Sorry, but that is such an urban legend. There is no data to support that other than anicdotal stories. Hell my 2015 GT was the most reliable car I ever owned. Not one service issue in 7 years. These problems can happen on any year. No need to look for conspiracies.

You bought this car in April of 25. Do you know the history of this vehicle? You may want to investigate the history of the VIN. Glenn

Its not an urban legend at all.

Just off the top of my head: Honda 1.5's were found to have bad oil dilution issues,

Toyota GR86's were found to have oil starvation due to factory fujibond/RTV being applied incorrectly.

Toyota Tundra's had metal deposits found in their motors, leading to total engine failure

Porsches were found to have intermediate shaft bearing issues very early on.

BMW E60's and E90's were found to have rod bearing issues.

MK4 1.8T GTI's had sludging issues due to incorrect factory maintenance guides, something that was updated a few short years later.

GM recall effecting their L87 platform, something that was first being talked about years ago.

There are so many examples of new models being discovered with issues, to say it's an urban legend is a bit silly.

When a new model comes out, the customer base is very much a large scale stress test where all different types of driving styles contribute to a large pool of data, and from that the manufacturer gathers possible flaws in the design that a standard factory test or computer simulation simply could not pick up. Not sure where you got the notion that this is just a myth.

Just a few quick final examples with specifically Ford, a batch of early Focus RS' were found to have issues regarding the head gaskets being for the wrong engine.

GT350's were found to have excessive oil consumption, leading to Ford changing the acceptable/in spec consumption to be a qt every 1000 miles, iirc.

Things like this are often discovered within the first two years of a model's run, and can very much change the consumers opinion on whether or not they would like to purchase the car, especially depending on if the manufacturer takes the adequate steps to mend the car's issues.

Does this mean that every new model will be a headache during the first two years of ownership? No, not at all. However waiting a year or two to see the consumer reports and potential recalls are absolutely a valid rule to live by. Just because there's no scientific paper or data does not mean we can't make an inference based on previous examples and basic common sense. If a factory is using new tooling, new methods of production, and new powertrain designs, they are bound to make a few small -or large- hiccups here and there that simply were not accounted for or overlooked.

I was concerned with all of the electronics in these vehicles. I have to keep reminding myself that it is a BIG computer. Just yesterday, mine decided to change my colors on my dash - not hating it - so maybe it knows what I really want after all.

I do sort of fear what these giant screens will be like in 10 or 15 years. I never sell cars I own, and drive them until theres nothing left to drive, so I do sort of worry on the longevity. My mind immediately goes to the fact that 10 year old Iphones are horrifiically slow and have many issues due to age. I am holding out hope it's not the same story with these big 'ol screens.

On one hand, 15 year old infotainment units on BMW's and Audi's aren't slower or much more buggy with age, but on the other hand, they were far simpler and less connected to everything in the car. You didn't NEED them to see your temp, speed, climate control, etc etc.

The fact these screens are running unreal engine is already a red flag. Unreal engine is notorious for being very hardware intensive. I wouldn't really care as much if most info wasn't directly linked to the screens. My friends S550 Bullitt was already bricked once because the screens refused to boot up, just a blank black screen. That shit is a serious concern.

But we shall see.

LIke it or not, computized cars are here to stay. I like my old Tacoma's dials and knobs better but those days are over with new cars. I decided that I would have to be the one to adapt if I want any kind of new car.

As soon as my factory warranty is over-I'm putting an extended warranty on it just for the electronics. I had a 23 300s that had a lot of electronics but it also had the dials - so you had a back-up - Thanks for your input

Hey all!
I’ve been heavily considering ordering a 2025 Dark Horse with the handling package but this would be my first time buying/ordering a new car from a dealership. What’s the state of the market looking like for Dark Horse production this year? I was looking back at some older forum posts from last year and I saw a lot of people saying it took over a year from order to delivery (and some people never even got their build at all). Is the situation any different now in 2025?

Good idea. Can you warranty just the electronics?

I think it was true back in the day, and Monday/Friday cars.
