I don't think it's feasible to have a platform used for both gas and electric vehicles. EVs are just too different, starting with the location of the batteries. Here me out, what if Ford developed a next gen mustang to ride on the same platform as a sedan, and maybe even found a way where that platform could accommodate a next gen mach-e with both gas and electric powertrain capabilities.
I think there's some merit to this, although I think it would be more marketable as a little "hot hatch" than a coupe. I don't think it could be a "Mustang" either way. The biggest barrier is cost. This EV would need a low price, but the entire industry struggles to build EVs cheaply enough to price them low. What if Ford took this EV platform, this tiny, inexpensive platform, and gave us a small EV coupe with a starting price of around 25-30k and maybe 250 hp?
