This happens. It shouldn’t but it does. I wouldn’t get too wrapped up in that. The dealers a moron. That’s not on Ford.

I certainly would not paint the entire dealership as morons, but whomever he spoke to should know.

Well, it’s done. So that’s that. But depending on why the light came on, driving it that additional 50 miles could give Ford the right to deny a warranty claim.

Yes, this is a possibility. Hopefully, there's nothing to be worried about (no additional damage done while driving).

I’m surprised you don’t have free towing from ford. When I ordered my 2021 GT PP1 they told my all Mustangs come with a 3 year full warranty and free towing for 3 years. Then a 5 year drive train warranty.

Ford is having serious quality control issues- just read their 2nd quarter report- allocating big sums of $$ to warranty claims.

$2.3 billion for recall and warranty issues.

Correct, I am a tournament bass angler and the boat world is the same. Many issues with boats built during the same time, Mercury is laying off 1700 workers, I personally know many people who are having issues with their boats.

Also, I have almost 9000 miles on my car zero issues other phone connection issues, but I have had the same issues with previous vehicles.

Hey boys, thanks to all for responses.

Got In contact with Ford CS today and started a claim.

Was able to call the dealer and they pulled codes for cylinders 1 and 5 misfiring. So both banks.

Ford will only tow 50 miles but that's in the contact so I can't complain.

As far as being clairvoyant on damage, I was more asking for opinions as I havnt ripped a motor down with misfires.

The CS reps were all very nice and professional as well as the Ford roadside service. I'm going to tow it back to original dealer who is Shelby certified.

Will keep updating for sure. Fingers crossed it's somthing small, but yall are right it happens. Warranty

The issue I'm running into is the service dept (not saying incompetent) is very small and I would rather eat a towing cost to get her back to a much much larger dealer that's Shelby certified and deals with Coyotes all day that I bought her from.

I think it's a good idea to be aware of these issues; most are state-specific. But right now, it's putting the cart before the horse. The car is in the process of being recovered to the dealer, so they can inspect and confirm what happened.

Everyone is going to be different as to how they approach a problem like this. The OP has let us know how special the car is to them. During a sit-down, that can be conveyed to the dealer. The OP can set the expectation and the standard, commensurate with Ford's Warranty Policy. The dealer has to have the chance to make things right, in-line with Ford's policy and state law.

For now, I'd be as amicable as possible, wanting to work with those individuals. Never a straight line, things often have a way of working out well, for all parties. Approaching the issue with attitude wouldn't be my tack. Think strategic or long-game. YMMV.

Not just no,HELL NO. OP doesn’t have a statutory claim in any state yet. Even if he had the repeat safety issue or 4x repairs wit 30+ calendar days down, once you ring that bell, it won‘t be unrung. Every subsequent dealer service interaction will be a search for a reason to void the warranty in any aspect, which could be presented in court.

Even if you have a problem child car, it’s much better to try and work through the dealer first, Ford next and give them every reason to WANT to make your problem right. IOW don be that guy.
