Will they be skipping 2023 for the Mustang?
I heard in the presentation the S650 will be available summer of 2023.

Yeah once the calendar flips to a new year they can’t call anything produced after that the prior year. That’s mostly why manufacturers start producing the next model year in fall the prior year (there’s probably some sales and logistics reasons too).I thought skipping 23 and just continuing 22 might be a possibility too but another poster pointed out that it isn’t legally possible.
But unless 24 prices somehow leak out and show a massive price increase it will be interesting to see what they do to move the 23s out. I think it could take some creative measures, given all the 24 hoopla only one day after introduction. 24s clearly have all the buzz and that isn’t likely to change!
Yeah I suppose the VIN cannot indicate an earlier year model than the actual year of production but as you point out the converse is just fine. Next year’s MY VIN cars have been produced in the fall of the current calendar year since time began.Yeah once the calendar flips to a new year they can’t call anything produced after that the prior year. I thought that the ‘23 MY was always planned to be a short run?I would say that if anyone wants the last MY of the s550, don’t wait because all indications are it will be a short run. From what I saw last night, they are targeting first deliveries of the s650 for summer 2023.
Yeah I’d heard different thoughts on timing. Some people thought they’d wait and release it for the 60th anniversary and some thought early release in ‘23. I initially thought they’d wait for the 60th but after they announced the date of the unveiling I changed course. There’s no way they were going to wait over a year after the reveal. I’m glad my ‘22 is on the way and will be interesting to see if there’s s550 and s650 overlap next yearI thought that the ‘23 MY was always planned to be a short run?
In any event, if 2024 deliveries do start in the summer of ‘23 it wouldn’t be shocking to see ordered ‘23 deliveries finishing up even after ‘24s were being delivered.
It‘s gonna be a fun time to watch from afar as long as one doesn’t have a dog in the fight.
I think you’re gonna really like the ‘22.Yeah I’d heard different thoughts on timing. Some people thought they’d wait and release it for the 60th anniversary and some thought early release in ‘23. Ford is not going to do what Chevy did to Corvette in 83. No 83 Corvettes built. Missed opportunity, since that was their 30th anniversary too. Will they be skipping 2023 for the Mustang?

70 1/2 Z-28 was a good solution IMO.Ford is not going to do what Chevy did to Corvette in 83. No 83 Corvettes built. Missed opportunity, since that was their 30th anniversary too.
I agree FT. Whether compliant with VIN requirements or not, they don’t NEED a 2023 MY Mustang. That is assuming of course there’s nothing new to see here and it’s just a continuation of the 22s. And given they don’t want to step on the all-new 24s I think that’s likely.70 1/2 Z-28 was a good solution IMO.
No need though. The gen 7 is not ready yet, so even a 6 month production of 2023's makes sense.I agree FT. Whether compliant with VIN requirements or not, they don’t NEED a 2023 MY Mustang. Maybe they could just work overtime building 22s up to 12/31 and sell them as 22s as long as they lasted into 2023.
THe order desk is already closed on MY23.No need though. The gen 7 is not ready yet, so even a 6 month production of 2023's makes sense.
you know there are dates on these posts rightTHe order desk is already closed on MY23.
