The two setups run different tunes?
Unlikely but I would bet Ford doesn’t want any negative PR with cars having issues related to tuning. The majority of turn key folks tend to automatically think if Ford supports it then it’s 100% safe when in reality the major car enthusiasts know anything that isn’t designed from the start is just a matter of time until it fails and needs to be upgraded to something stronger.

The calibration for Ford Performance's Whipple-based supercharger kits (such as those for the S650 Mustang) has been put on hold by Ford as of late August 2025. No official reason has been provided by Ford or Whipple, but based on user reports and discussions, the hold appears related to ongoing concerns with catalytic converter failures (e.g., melting or plugging) that have affected some supercharged vehicles in the past. These issues can arise from high temperatures and thermal shock under boosted conditions, particularly during aggressive driving, and both Ford and Whipple have previously adjusted tunes to mitigate such problems in other models. The hold has left some installations incomplete at dealers like Lebanon Ford Performance, with no clear timeline for resolution.

That can be said for just about any supercharged car with 600+ WHP if you push it for more than 5-10 minutes such as track driving. I plan to take it easy for a couple months and then go with long tube headers and no cats.

I plan to run the car under warranty for a a few months and if there are any issues you should know right away. Then like you go with long tube cat-less to mitigate a cat failure....

Well, I guess that was kind of a loose description from Grok that could be taken a couple of ways but I've spoken with Whipple and they say they will still provide the tune if you buy from them as opposed to Ford Performance.

Beautiful Chevelle by the way... 67? My other red manual shift is a 70 GTO... 🍻

I’m just going to go stage 2. F it. The car is a 2024 and was purchased by RTR and then Lebanon bought it from them. With that said I would only have a warranty for 2 years according to the finance department. So….stage 2 and then in the spring I’ll add my wheel/tires that I have in the garage waiting and some Stainless Works headers.

I'm seeing 19.5 degrees of advance on stage 1. Things seem just fine so far. my lambda is .71-.73 at WOT in 4th near redline.

This was an actual email response I got from Ford Performance about this issue - and didn’t copy and paste AI…. Which is almost always wrong, just saying.

This is also an actual response from Ford performance. Which was just about as informative as stanza's letter. So i think AI has a more reasonable reason

of what may be going on. Just saying.....

Not sure what your timing and lamda numbers have to do with why whipple calibration is being put on hold, but thank you for your very helpful information.

I just got off the phone with LFP. I’m going to install a Roush TVS 2650 system instead of the Whipple since it is not impacted by this issue.

Roush finally responded to my shop and said there’s a software update they need to download. This is great news.
By the way, you made a great choice. That’s an excellent blower no matter what the Internet says.

It's not the old 'bad' one, it's the same as the Edelbrock/VMP.
