Wow. I wonder what the hold is for. I’ve had my Whipple for over a year and over 14k without any problems.

It sounds to me like it’s some kind of hardware or communication issue keeping the tune from being sent from Ford to the vehicle.

Our cars went in on the exact same day.
Dropped it off on 08/25. I believe they got everything installed in a couple days, but then this came along on the day they tried to calibrate and tune the car.
do one of you have an auto and 1 a manual ?
car colors both black?
they may have done the swapparo mistake

I currently have mine waiting for the calibration as well at LFP. They have been really responsive and have been giving latest updates though, really great folks over there. Hopefully it can get resolved soon..
What color and transmission is yours?

This is interesting cause Lund has been reviewing the whipple tune for changes. Word is they were shocked by the timing added in on the whipple tune. Something like 20 degrees (on 91 octane) when they feel 17 would/should be the limit.

It’s not that crazy if fuel quality and octane is all there.

I used to target 40* total and my straps were always great, a touch aggressive but that’s part of a great tune.

I.E… 22lbs of boost/ 18*… 20/20, 18psi/22*

20 degrees on 14-15 psi… is probably too much for straight 93… but just barely, E30 and that is tame… let alone race fuel.

Isn't that only the stage 2 tune though?

20 on 14-15 would be insane on 93

any idea what your car hits during WOT on straight pump gas?

I received an update from Ford Performance. They have found some issues with the tuning software. According to Lebanon Ford Performance it is possibly related to OTA updates.
My dealer also stated that as of now the hardware has not been installed as it’s still in line behind 2 other vehicles.

I instructed my dealer to install stage 1 tune if it’s fixed next week and if it’s not then I’ll move to stage 2.

the old rule of thumb was take out 1 degree of timing for every pound of boost.

Where somewhere around 30 degrees is where Ford has the stock timing limited to on 93 octane and no retarding from the knock sensors

Where you are trying to add cylinder pressure to a car that is something like 12.2 to 1 compression, I can see why they would crank back the timing to keep the cylinder pressures down.

What's interesting about this is that the Whipple version is still able to be installed and tuned. I wonder what's different in the tuning process between the two?

Probably too much timing for 91-93 octane.
