We’ve owned 3 GT’s now, and really TRIED to go with the EcoBoost on the last one….

We started looking for another GT convertible about 3 or 4 months ago. We originally intended to try to see what the EcoBoost had to offer. We must have driven 5 or 6 of them — everything from a used base model to a loaded Premium new one……we found we just flat missed the 5.0 ESPECIALLY with the adjustable exhaust!
I understand those who want the increased MPG, and perhaps the lower insurance costs….but from an engine/exhaust sound, you just cannot beat the 5.0. It makes me grin from ear to ear every time I jump on it…..the EcoBoost simply did not…….. not an EcoBoost hater here, just a 5.0 passionate lover!

You tested 5 or 6 ecoboosts and they all mised the 5.0 V8 engine?

Man you are unlucky. Try more Ecoboosts. You should find one that has the V8 engine.
Your know that is NOT what I said or meant…..I WAS trying to be kind as to how the EB sounded compared to the great sound of the 5.0…..why are you so……..oh, never mind…..I see you bought the GT as well, so you already know what I was saying……

Why would you even think you would be happy stepping down into an econobox after a string of 5.0s?
Well, initially, because I am 73, and my reaction times are not what they used to be, you know? I ended up making the right decision once I heard an EB under the whip….not pleasant to my ears at all.

My 2015 Ecoboost was fun but whole time I owned it I wished it was a GT. Ten years later and I can afford the 5.0, so much better.

It's big of you to admit that. My dad, who is in his 80s is convinced he can take Verstappen in a formula 1 car if he was just given a chance.....

How does an Ecoboost help your reaction time over a GT? 🤔

I know what Mr Wink is saying, I wouldn't have gone for the 4 pot.
I've had mostly 4's and the odd 6 all my life. It was time for 8 flying in a V formation.

Well, I loved sliding my 5.0’s a bit with the throttle coming out of corners, and quickly catching it with counter steering……seems a a bit of a shame to me not to be able to do that now so often, as I have Parkinson’s (thanks for asking). Also, believe it or not, insurance rates actually go up when you turn 70……Any other pithy questions?

You may not be missing much, as these S650s feel much more buttoned down (neutered!) than S550's. The computers automatically brake specific wheels if you go into a corner too hot. Ford would rather you get brake wear rather than tire wear (at least in turns).

I'm sure they can still do burnouts easily, but I want to get loose in the corners and I can tell the car is being held back sometimes.

Maybe the Performance Package cars allow a little more wiggle room, I don't know.
