What all is needed to get and use forscan. Idk anything about it as this is my first newer ford. Only two other fords I ever owned were a 95 F150 and an 05 Taurus.
Very easy. You just need a laptop, free software from here, and an OBD adapter (I bought this). You do need to sign up for a free trial license for the software, and for some reason that takes around 30 minutes to process, but it is free.

Once you have all that, go to the car, connect the OBD to your laptop and plug it into the car's OBD port, then start the car. Once the car is started, on your laptop, open up for Forscan software, have it connect to the car. Switch to the Configuration and Programming set of tools, select the ACM module, save a backup of the existing settings, then adjust the ESE value to 0, select Write All, wait until that's done, then turn the car off, start the car back up, if everything is good, tell Forscan to stop the service procedure, disconnect the software, then shut off the car and disconnect the OBD plug.

Here is a video that walks you through the process, but the video is for an F150, not a S650 Mustang, so the value is a little different. On the Mustang, you want to find 727-01-01 on the ACM module, then change the number where the asterisk is below to a 0; that will disable the ESE.

727-01-01xxxxxxxx*x--

That said, use at your own risk! I'm just a guy on the internet. :D

Well I guess that’ll have to wait as I don’t have a good enough laptop. Mine is over 10 years old and slower than molasses lol

For what it's worth, I used a piece of junk with only 8 GB of RAM. Forscan really doesn't seem to require much computing power. You could try downloading it to the laptop, open up the task manager to look at CPU and memory availability, then run Forscan and see how it does. As long as it (a) runs and (b) doesn't max out the CPU or memory, you're probably fine.

It barely runs with pretty much nothing even on it lol it’s just slow and old. I need a new one but can’t afford to rn

@DCBuckeye did you flatten the EQ as well? From what I've been reading up on the rear speakers are completely choked off with stock eq settings

727-01-02 xxx* xxxx xx--

0 is a completely flattened EQ

I'm going to start playing around this week on my stock 9 speaker (301a, same 9 speaker as the GT Prem) to see if I can get something decent before going the sub route.

Chris any update on the eq settings
According to the spreadsheet mine is a zero, which would indicate a flat eq. I'm kind of surprised by this so I'm wondering if the value is in a different spot than previously.

I still need to update the graphic in the original post, but this is all done. Wire taps work well, with a small hitch.

Final order of install was:
1. Determine roughly where everything would go. I decided to mount the amp to the back of the seat as it wouldn't fit on the sides of the trunk and I didn't feel like fabricating somethibg from scratch. I also did not want to mount it to the subwoofer box as I want to be able to remove the subwoofer without having to disconnect power and ground cables from the amp.
2. Tap the rear speaker wires. This was my first frustration when I discovered the S550 wiring diagrams don't work for the S650. But, I found a YouTuber who had sorted it out, ran the Posi-tap connectors, and secured the LOC.

3. Find a ground spot for the amp and LOC. After poking around for a while, I took out the bottom of the backseat, and found a bolt for the seatbelt. Sanded the paint off the metal, and secured the ground for the amp and LOC.
4. Ran the power cable through the firewall. I removed the front passenger tire, opened up the rear of the wheel well, then used a utility knife to carefully open up a slot in the gasket. I then fed a wire hanger through. Going back to the interior, I found the wire hanger, taped the power cable to it, pulled it through, then installed the fuse and connected it to the positive harness. (Picture is from when power is reconnected at the very end; should not look like this when you're just attaching thr wire to the harness.)

5. Connect all the wires to the amp.
6. Reconnect the positive and negative terminals of the battery.
7. Turn on the car, turn the radio on low, ensure everything is working, then turn the car off.
8. Screwed the amp into the back of the seat and secure the subwoofer with velcro.

9. Start the car back up and tune the amp.

Note: The power line from the LOC will switch the amp on and off, but it will power up everytime you walk near the car with your key fob. This includes a couple of woofs from the subwoofer. I may reroute the power switch to a fuse, but haven't yet figured out which fuse(s) only come on when the car is turned on.

I think the amp is not that great and will likely swap it out in a few months, but for now it's fine.
Hey, not sure if my reply went through, my phone was glitchy…

can you please tell me which colour wires you connected to from the vehicle factory harness to the LOC ?

I just want to confirm the colours before I tap into it.

I would appreciate it, thanks!

Can you confirm the wires to tap into and the colours?
