1. The ECU can guess based on AFR etc and add fuel accordingly (the 'old' way, called a flex tune), or
2. the flex fuel logic can be enabled in the ECU. Or,
3. you can run an e85 specific tune that basically just adds way more timing and fuel. In that case the ECU doesn't really know and it just set up for e85

3 - is standard.

2 - is this a thing on S650? How does it work? I think the S650 lacks something to make this option work.

1- there are some tuners offering this. Some criticize it. Others love it. I haven't tried it.

All - just quick update. I reached out to Lund racing and few others. Below was the response I received from Lund customer support.
I really don’t understand necessity if we don’t gain anything on 91 tune and e85 we may? What’s use of tuning?

Shoemaker, wengerd support and DRP responded saying below.
Out of 3 only DRP was able to give apporx hp gain with tunes. Think I’m gonna go with DRP for now.

2 - requires a fuel sensor in the tank which reads ethanol %.

No does not. The pcm infers the alcohol content via the widebands.
Yeah, forgot about that... I guess I should have said "often uses"... as some do.

Can anyone translate that dyno graph to bald eagles per cheeseburger for those of us in the back? This a joke do not take seriously.
open the google and type in "278.22 kw to hp"

373.09 mechanical hp

308 kw = 413 hp

535Nm = 394.59 lb-ft torque

Ok gotcha on 91. Since I live in Denver we don’t have 93 here. But question is the support agent said for e85 “I just need tune” no need for flex fuel kit or anything. How does ecu know what fuel I got and how does it adjust itself?
Do you know if you don’t have 93 because of your gas sources or because of elevation? IIRC, lower octane at elevation because of less air/O2. Also, do you have true e85?

Here in the Phoenix area we don’t have 93 because of gas sources “CAN” (California, Arizona, Nevada) gas (at least near me), but we can make it as some stations carry 100 octane Sunoco. AZ is a bad state for gas since we’re at lower elevation along with extreme heat and high IAT. I always run my 93 blend (at least 3.5 gal 100 to 12.5 gal 91). What makes it worse is we have FlexFuel, not e85, which has to be tested (I’ve seen numbers of e56 to e83 ish). Good fuels are available by the barrel but that’s inconvenient and costly.

I was at a Mustang meet a few months back and there was a guy running e85 in his tuned S/C DH (not DH S/C). I asked his e85 source and they were all flex fuel stations. The misinformation is abundant.

This is why I just run a stock tune, lack of better fuel options where we need it the most (lower elevation/higher heat/lower octane/lack of e85)
