My God - went to change out my lug nuts to BLACK on my 25 DH.

first off (those that got factory locking lugs) they are installed at the dealer during the PDI inspection. Literally they were HAND TIGHT, Aholes.

second what’s with the 150lb torque spec on the wheel 🌰 nuts - for Christ sake.

third they broke the driver side undercarriage wind strafes that are also supposed to be added at PDI …

F’in Ford tech dopes - like I say: “Pay peanuts - get Monkeys”

and to top it off these Pirates charge $185 an hour service rate 😡😡😡

I would go back to the dealer and deliver unholy hell about that to the General Manager. He wouldn't forget it either. It's just wheels.

I did that when I was 19 y.o., a few years ago 🙄, having to do with the exact same thing, on the first new car I ever bought with money I earned and they fired the tech on the spot. I felt very good about that. When I pay for good service, especially on a car, I expect nothing less than good service. My three cents.

YIKES!

When I was ... wow, this is really going back. 20th century ...
I took a truck to a local tire shop for a brake job. I didn't have a garage at the time and it was winter. The shop was only 2 miles, got brakes done, drove home. Drove to Walmart and back - 1.5 miles each way. Noticed a vibration on the way back, figured I lost a wheel weight. Drove back out about 1 mile, vibe was worse. way worse than a wheel weight. I drop it off at the tire shop.

They call back, loose lugs, at least one rotor destroyed up front. "Who worked on your truck"...
"You did, last week. Check the mileage, there's only 5 miles on it from when you did the work".

They made it right and ever since, no matter how much I like and trust anyone who pulls the wheels, I always do a walk around now.

Definitely let the shop manager know, this is the kind of thing that gets people hurt.

The 150 lb-ft spec is because the Mustang from 2015-present uses 14X1.5 wheel studs/lug nuts instead of 12mm. I'd be pissed about the loose lug nuts and broken strafes too.

I cringe every time I read a dealer service horror story. That's supposed to be the ONE place you think you're going to get quality service.

Last month my wife's Lincoln got an oil change at the dealer. I checked it when we got home and it was a full qt. low. I called and bitched, and although they can't help tech screw-ups, they did send out a good mobile tech to our house to verify and put in the missing qt. Supposedly the service manager gave the tech hell. How $#@! hard is it to check the dipstick before sending the car out?!?

You get any service done, Trust but VERIFY before leaving! From now on I don't care how much of an ass I might look like double checking their work. I have past situations to back me up.

My god, Starship, it was only ONE quart low! How much do you expect from people!?

I was with the tech that was changing my oil last week and I asked him how they treated him at the dealership. He said "OK except for the pay"......so there ya go.

lol....What's a quart between friends? 🙃

I'll tell ya, I was impressed with the mobile tech, and that's the route I am taking. He even said he goes through the trouble to drain the oil vs. most people siphon on mobile visits.

My back won't let me crawl under the car any more, and just removing that shield cover and trying to capture 10 qts....not my thing anymore.

I was shocked at the torque spec too, then discovered they were 21mm nuts.
I doubt they'll ever come loose.

I've had back surgery at Cleveland Clinic. Back pain is hell.

OP, your best course of action is to go back and talk with the service manager or director about this, but in a calm manner. let them know what you were doing and what you found, and that you are disappointed that such and error could've happened. while sales sells the vehicles, service is the ones that do the PDI. loose lug nuts are an absolutely unforgivable thing and i would definitely be wary of that dealer in the future, but if the people in charge are competent, you can be sure that the next tech meeting is going to have a reminder to check lug nut torque before anything leaves their bays. technicians are human too, but checking lug nut torque is basics.

also, if you feel that torque spec is too high, you might want to try the GTD's torque spec instead, which is 148ft-lbs

Like it or not, Lincoln is a luxury brand, complete with valet service and supposedly 'white glove' attention. My wife has one; I managed to cajole her out of her peasant S00b and into an MkZ AWD. It only took one test drive and she went from "I don't need a new car" ( S00b was 10 years old and feeling it ) to "so when are we picking up the new car?"

anyway, they valet service the car -we're 40 miles out. Each service comes with at least one video. They've diligently reported anything 'close' or ready for replacement, found a couple things under the car, and then called with "hey, we found a leaking rear seal, we checked and the fluid level is ok now. We can return it to you, don't drive it on a long trip, we'll pick it up again Wed. and fix it. " Valet service gives you a loaner for the time they have the car, routine service or warranty work. Gotta say, that is really nice.

So yeah, customers paying 'luxury' pricing for the vehicle should get luxury level service.

LOL! The term, "Luxury Car" is almost an oxymoron.

Definitely do not let this go. Talk to dealership and tell them how upset and disappointed you are.

Agreed, Our dealer is Ford/Lincoln, so service is basically the same, though maybe the Mustang service might not come with as many perks.
