Why is HDR (High Dynamic Range) important?

Even though this screen shot is a JPG (which loses quality, fast) you can see how the detail in the highlights are preserved with HDR.
A Starvis 2 sensor which has a much improved Dynamic range over the previous generation Starvis sensors, along with a fast shutter speed (to prevent motion blur) are allhighly desirable must have features... otherwise a dash cam is just a useless placebo. Once you have the fundamentals right, then shop on other features.
Unfortunately Blackvue have not implemented HDR in their new DR970X Plus series.
