I'm trying to convert my TCU from North America to Europe on my Mustang. On the F150 I've read a topic of other people who have don this on their truck. See link below

https://www.f150lightningforum.com/...ontinent-region-change-usa-to-eu.34231/page-4

I saw these pictures what they posted, but since I'm not that good in reading pictures, I just need some help to understand before I bring my TCU to a local Phone Shop to fix it.

So what the person described was:
- Buy a Sim card adapter (bought)
- Remove the E-sim
- Solder the adapter to the TCU

He also said that he made a diagram, but I don't understand nothing from thst diagram. Maybe it's better to create an account on that forum and ask the person instead of opening a thread here, but since this is a Mustang, and since other owners maybe also want to do this, I wanted to share it here as well.

Are there any people here who do understand the pictures? My questions are:

1. Is the first picture how the TCU looks like before modification?

2. Can you explain the diagram that is shown on the second picture?

3. On the third picture it looks like the black plastic square thing is removed. I guess that is the E-sim? Now I can see 4 pins that are used and directed with white cables to somewhere else? Where exactly?

4. Picture 4 looks like a mess to me. What information can we get from this picture?

Thanks in advance.

They are replacing the e-sim with a sim card holder to use sim card from different region.

1. yes

2. shows what terminals the conductors on the ribbon cable attach to. (after e-sim removed)

3. the terminals are connected thru small wire to the conductors in the ribbon cable. I assume the ribbon cable goes to the sim card holder, but they are not showing the other end in any of the pics.

4. I think that is just showing an alternate method or someone else's attempt at it (same thing, using different wires)

Thanks. That makes it a bit more clear.

And yes, the ribbon cable goes to the sim card holder. I guess you can keep that thing hanging or maybe make it easier accessible by letting it hang outside the tcu to change it quickly.

The only thing I still can't see is what they did on the left side of the picture. I see they tapped 4 cables from the location where the E-sim was located and then when you follow the cables, you can see the ribbon wires are glued or soldered on the left side of the picture on the TCU. And over there you can see 5 cables instead of 4. Where is the 5th cable going to, can you see that or do you understand the 5th cable? On the picture scheme it says gnd which is ground, so the 5th cable might be the ground. But i wonder where it goes kn the tcu.

Also, the location of that ribbon cable thing with the 5 cables. What below it? Are the ribbons soldered to some pins underneath it or did they just stick it there without using the pins below it?

they may have done the grnd up there as it looks like a bigger "pad" on the circuit board... perhaps it was easier or more convenient with the direction of the wires.

I did it a few months ago, but somehow I could not achieve to connect it to ethernet & afterthat I had high workload and forgot about it.

The guy who done the electrical thing done something quite different from diagrams.

I think I will have time this weekend and search about it again.

I might made some extra mistake which resetting tcu & now it says now it is in unprovisioned mode right now

Wiring looks the same as @GrabThatBlue has. DId the module come out of your car originally?

I inspected now little bit from the photos, yes it seems same.
I'll check cabling quality and grounding point tomorrow evening.
then I'll try another simcard for testing

lastly I'll convert all my settings to oem & check (forscan)

and if none of them works, I'll make an appointment from the service & check the tcu settings.

because I tried to "reset" tcu and now its says "unprovisioned mode" like below

I think I f.ked up at one point :)

I told Mr Grabthatblue to this possibility vs Polish guy but I couldn't solve :)

That is some big thing. What modules were you playing with?

I checked today if I also have the map and I have the same thing.

This is standard but I wasn't aware of it. When you zoom oht you see the whole world. But when zoomed in, you see nothing. This isn't a change or anything.
