Yes it's very possible, but be careful shifting back into Auto from Manual while driving. The shift selector has some slop to it, and if you can accidentally move the gear selector into neutral. It doesn't lock into neutral, but it does hit the edge of it...enough to scare the crap out of you as it freely revs it's ass off.

Ask me how I know. 😳

Yep, better to just get the 6 speed manual than to bother with the hassle of the automatic trying to make up its mind.

Man, you're asking a lot for those people that can't drive an automatic or manual. Hot Wheels that go, "vrooom, vrooom" with no shifter! What next? 🤣 🤣

Just like pulling it inadvertently into manual and wondering why it's holding first.
Bloody Ford shifters.😉

LouG, I hate when I do that! Amateur move on my part. Hopefully it will never happen again. 😬

since I installed my Billetworkz shifter I have never pulled the shifter accidentally into Manual. The push down collar on the stalk is much more intuitive, and it eliminates accidentally pushing down on top with the thumb as on the stock shifter knob.

I HIGHLY recommend replacing the stock shifter with the BIlletworkz. Plus the knobs look so much cooler. I have 4 now...lol.

1. you do not need to shift to manual to use the paddles
2. you do not need to hit the button to shift from M to D. Just push the stick forward, there should never be a situation where you go to N

1) correct

2) also correct, but if you push the shifter forward enough from manual back into drive, it can go partway into the neutral slot...enough to send the trans into neutral. And no, I didn't have the lever pressed in.

Don't tell me my car is the only one that can do that?!? 😳

How hard are you pushing it? Hulk Smash? It locks out!

EDIT: removed unnecessary language.

I wasn't pushing up hard, it stopped at drive, but it hit the edge of neutral enough to shift into it. Like there is some slop in the indentation.

I don't know what else to tell you....
