Shaking in front end / steering wheel under hard braking, usually happens once on a drive

So yeah

Shaking in the front end under mild braking after the cars sat for a bit. seems to clear up if I stop hard.

Figure a pad is getting hung up? I checked the lug nuts and they're all torqued to 150 per spec.

No shaking while driving. It is winter here and there's lots of shit on the roads. I wonder if something just needs to be lubed?

Dealership wants $275 to look at it.

Probably just brake dust buildup. Not a real concern. It will happen with dusty pads.

Its pretty rare to actually have warped rotors. If you had warped rotors, it would be a consistent brake pedal pulse at all speeds.

Have a look at the rotors, see if there's a spot in the friction surface that looks different to the rest.
I'm picking that there's a patch of rust that gets scrubbed away on hard braking, but returns when the car's sitting.
