Fluid leaking from top of steering under dashboard

Anyone have this fluid residue right under the dashboard? Has anyone taken it to ford for this?

Maybe...some excessive amount of assembly lube that's now weeped out past a seal? There aren't any actual liquids in that area. Well, there shouldn't be. There are lubes and greases internal to the column.

Was the column recently adjusted? Any chance it's leftover residue from people detailing the car before taking receipt? Some of the materials they use are horrible: more for coverage and appearance than actual protection. What they used on my tires was akin to a black grease mixed with a Sharpie.

No the column wasn’t adjusted so I’m not sure what it could be. Not sure about the detailing residue. It’s been 2 months sober I bought it so I’m not sure it would even still be there.
