I think you might be in the wrong forum.
I guess that's what happens when a forum is created from a previous one. Looking back, I can't say I much like that idea. Meanwhile, I have an account over on 6G from 2022 when I had first had my Ecoboost but missed the carryover cutoff date to this forum.

So instead of Mustang people, there's S550 vs. S650 and Ecoboost vs. Coyote crowds. I wasn't enjoying the "shoulda got a V8" (loved my Ecoboost, but after it was wrecked couldn't get another new 6 speed manual) nor the "nice camaro" comments, both of which are all too prevalent on other platforms (like Facebook). Hard being 61 years old and treated like I'm back in high school.

Meanwhile, we have both S550 and S650 V8 Mustangs. Love them both for different reasons.

So someone cracked the ecm or did ford finally break and unlocked the cars?
Dunno!! My guess is perpestrators within Ford who want to see the sales numbers go up left the back door open, and some dog made off with the steak...

Alright, at the risk of sounding incredibly ignorant, what does this mean for potential security risks.

How difficult would this make breaking into/bypassing/starting a stolen S650?

I love to see that tuning is now a reality, but with updates OTA and the entire car being a glorified computer, it feels like a valid question

I mean, about the same as other pony cars that are tuned via the OBDII port. It would take a dedicated auto theft criminal with serious gear to breach the physical locks, tap into OBDII, and run an exploit from there. At least they can't just clone my key fob from outside my house or hotel room like they did my Chevy.

If you're way, way paranoid, keep your fob in a Faraday bag, and get you a kill switch. I plan on using these guys one day.

When are people going to learn that those AI Google responses just show what other people said on the internet. And its mostly from car forums. 🤦‍♂️
don't bother trying to explain on here, most people will use AI without knowing how it actually works lol if they did, chances are they probably wouldn't use it
