did my break-in oil change at 1168 miles. getting to the oil filter is next level stupid, you need to take out about 20 7mm bolts, 4 push pins, plus remove the underbody aero bits, and drop the front undertray. if you drained the oil before dropping the tray, there will be oil on top of the tray, but the good thing is the tray itself is made of some fiber material and it absorbs barely any, if any at all. sadly, it will quickly absorb brake cleaner + oil, so don't make the same mistake i did. the oil filter is still mounted horribly at a 45 degree angle and is right behind the alternator, plus the oil that drips from the filter will fall onto a crossmember for the front subframe. i am certain that Ford did not think about oil changes

I’m leaning more and more towards using my free dealer maintenance plan for oil changes. All this plus disposing of 10qts of oil sounds like a PITA!

It’s definitely a PITA. I was able to stuff a bunch of pig mat in after removing the drivers side wheel and slide my form-a-funnel into the small opening. No way anyone working flat rate would take the time I did to make sure there was no mess.

fun little fact: if i wasn't able to get a Dark Horse, a GT would've been my backup option.

401A, yellow splash, performance pack, nite pony, black and grey stripes, magneride, active exhaust, grabber blue calipers, and space grey interior. it would've been named either "Stinger" or "Thunderstruck"

last Sunday i did my first ever autocross event. SCCA AZ Solo. due to the tires, i was in Super Street Prepared with a Corvette Z06, Porsche 911 GT3RS, and Porsche Cayman GT4. i ended up only a couple seconds slower than the GT4 and even less time slower than the GT3RS. the accelerometer says i pulled a max of 1.16g lateral, 0.88g braking, and 0.72g accelerating during the whole event

was looking at the wiring diagram for the reverse lights, as i liked the diode dynamics 4th brake light kit for the 2015-2023, and Ford has changed it quite a bit. there are now 2 reverse lights and 3 pins on the connectors, all used. for some reason each reverse light has it's own power instead of having shared power. pin 1 is the right reverse light, pin 3 is the left reverse light, and pin 2 is ground

i was looking through the workshop manual to see how Ford says to remove the exhaust manifolds and i'm really confused why the driver's side manifold looks like this???

also Ford says to basically pick up the engine to do exhaust manifolds

this thread is inspired by the one DannyJ7 made for his EcoBoost, a place where i will keep things updated on my Dark Horse, including anything i modify on it. I always have specs and production process with dates in my signature

the project is called Azureus, because the car is blue
