96 Mustang GT, 24 Red Dark horse premium Manual
A 16.4 gallon tank would make sense. My 96 is 15.4 so they added a gallon to the tank size. They probably left the .4 as reserve to help prevent you from sucking air with the fuel pump. The miles remaining calculation probably removes the .4 before determining the remaining miles.
That .4 could buy you between 7 and 15 miles before you completely run dry. If you're on a grade, it might not buy that much.

been doing more experimenting with Forscan, i got the performance shift indicator and launch control to work, and even change the min and max RPM for both. unfortunately, launch control does not work on autos due to a lack of a clutch pedal input. i also found out that likely many vehicles with Sync 4 have the ability to have a "My Mustang" menu, but this is just an idea. for anyone interested, you can add the performance shift indicator to your auto by changing these addresses:
APIM:
7D0-10-03*xxxxxxxxx--
replace "*" with either 4, 5, 6, 7, C, D, E, or F (but probably just stick with "4")

IPC:
720-10-01xx*xxxxxxx--
replace "*" with either 4, 5, 6, 7, C, D, E, or F (but probably just stick with "4")
you need to change both because the APIM controls it and the IPC displays it

you can lower the minimum shift point for it below 4000 rpm, but it doesnt display the notch any lower than 4k. you can also raise the maximum shift point above 7200 rpm, but raising it too high will cause it to act funny. it seems to be a number that counts up from 4000 rpm in increments of 100 rpm. factory it's 32 (or "20" in hexadecimal), but you can raise it to 7500 rpm with "23" hexadecimal, and 7800 rpm with "26" hexadecimal.

finally got my Mustang back, its been long enough that i have to get used to driving it again. also, installed my dash cam and its a pretty clean looking installation. this is probably the messiest visible part

Can’t imagine rocks and pebbles flying out through that thing??? Can you actually see the tires through that thing?

I've been running the Viofo A129 Pro in my F150 for the last 1.5 years. It's been flawless. I also plan on going with the Viofo A229 Pro 3 channel in my future Mustang.

that was an idea i had before i even got the car, not doing that now. it would've been like the GTD where there is a wire mesh preventing rocks flying out

I'm pretty sure there is a mesh on the inside to stop that from happening.
