This is an old thread, and I'm sure the OP is long gone. For the record Ford does not sell touch up for rims last I checked. However a wheel repair shop should be able to match it super close. The downside is they will need to paint the entire rim unless it's a super minor chip.

Well, wine are no longer Ford rims (they're aftermarket) - but I thank you for the tip on the wheel repair shop approach - and that at least is an option to fix the issue after it's happened. However, I'm curious why there isn't some technology-application to prevent this from happening - we already have front and rear sensors that warn us about objects in front of and behind us; why doesn't this exist for curb detection. And while we're at it, why not include some more of these sensors for those of use with more aggressive front chin spoilers with lip extensions? But that opens a whole bigger can of worms - mainly, why does the driver tech package lack so much on these new S650 mustangs? Actually, that should be a new thread... I'll start it.

Well, I realize mistakes happen. But I'm of the opinion that a competent driver shouldn't need sensors to keep from curbing their rims. At a certian point drivers need to take some basic responsibility and not expect the cars nannies to do every little thing for you.

That being said, an overhead 360 camera is a nice feature when parking in tight spaces. But those were mostly invented for soccer moms driving SUVs.

Sure - I guess that's a fair argument and reasonable point of view. However, I think the same argument can/should be applied to a vast number of tech features. For example,
"At a certain point someone wanting to drag race their car shouldn't need a drag mode, a line lock feature, or launch control - just a foot and a good reaction time."
"At a certain point drivers shouldn't rely on stability and traction control - they should just drive better or stop driving."
"At a certain point there's too many airbags, causing drivers to lose their sense of fear, thus failing to temper their driving."

I get it - I'm not saying it needs to be standard on every vehicle. But with the Mustang premium tiers now well north of $50k, they're attracting premium buyers. And these buyers expect that they will have the ability to add on whatever the heck they want when price isn't their primary concern. Ergo, Mustang GTD; Shelby Super Snakes; Hennessy Venoms; Saleen Mustangs... the list goes on. Ford is moving the Mustang into a premium tier and failing to offer premium add-ons. To me, that's a missed opportunity.

Meh. It's a Mustang not a Lexus. I get cars are more expensive and people want to justify the price. But it's never been a luxury car and Ford is not moving it to a premium tier. I mean they just discontinued wireless charging after one year for gods sake. I'm just happy the S650 is as refined as it is compared to previous generations.

I dunno any better than anyone else - but a $70k Dark Horse is up there with a 5-series BMW or the AMG E53. That to me is a premium tier. No where near the top of the premium band, but well into the entry level premium vehicles.
I do agree with your opinion:
I'm just happy the S650 is as refined as it is compared to previous generations.
And I'll go further to say that the interior is very pleasing; the leather seats are great and the digital display cluster on the GT Premium with the continuous screen is a nice touch. In fact, I only have two complaints about the interior: no light-up drive indicators next to the automatic shifter, and no quick release for the passenger seat to move it forward for back seat access, and then return it to it's previous position.

Glenn - take care of that wife! I'll get off my lazy butt and head over to the car parts store - I need to get some new windshield wipers anyway. Thanks for sharing the image - that's enough to find something, I'm sure.
Here is the packaging for the convex mirrors. Good luck! Glenn

Depends on how bad the scuff/scrape is. I had a minor one on one of the Sparcos on my RS, and used a wide tipped black Sharpie twice a year to keep it covered up. Two coats. 👍
Wiley,
I did as you suggested using a silver Sharpie. I couldn't find a plain silver one close to what I needed, so I used a silver/metallic color I had at home. It actually matched very well, and being that it is on the outer edge of the rim, it is not very noticeable. Thanks for the suggestion. Glenn

Ok, I know what everyone is going to say, "be more careful and don't do it in the first place."

Well, we are past that point. I have some scratches down to the metal where the rim rubbed against a curb and the concrete chewed up a strip along the edge of the rim. Do they sell touch up paint for rims? Do I just suck it up? I took delivery of my order in 9/2024. Really don't want new rims. (this will likely happen again.)

I would appreciate any thoughts from your experience.

Jay
While my wife's 24 VW Atlas did come with a printed manual, there is no downloadable PDF file only VW sites where you have to login, then enter VIN and so forth and it's a royal PITA.
Unless you live in the middle of nowhere, there are places that repair rims and no, it isn't cheap.

However, I've seen it done to horribly damaged rims very successfully by someone I know that owns such a shop. If anything, he doesn't charge enough but most places do and then some.

That is your best alternative and yes, shit happens to everyone so no snide comments about that from me. Good luck! Google is your friend (sometimes).
