Hi guys,

My Canadian Mustang is exploring Europe and that means my car doesn't get the updates. To receive updates I need to change the e-sim to one that connects to the European network.

Does anybody has a manual on how to remove the TCU? Thanks.

My manual (on USB drive) has data errors... new one was supposed to arrive Friday... but extreme flooding in the area has delayed most shipping carriers. If no one else posts up, I will check when new manual shows up.

Updates can also be done manually via FDRS...

Yeah, sadly I'm the only Mustang in the country. Maybe 2 or 3 others. No one has FDRS here.

there has not been an update in a while.

Now the question is does the car go looking for updated or does Ford use the cellular modem to do the update by calling the car so to speak.

If Ford contacts the car, then you need to have the SIM in Ford's database right?

If it is the car checking then it matters not, unless Ford only lets authorized vehicles check.

Cell service is a little spotty where I am, to the point our cell phones revert to wi-fi calling when we are home, but the car is set up to connect to a network in the garage that I use for my scan tools and I'm pretty sure the last update I got was via wifi on that network with the car connected to that modem

So instead of digging in for the sim card, set your car to connect to the internet at home

There are some threats explaining how to. The US version need conversion, there is a guy in Poland who can do that. My US Mustang TCU with Ford app works great in The Netherlands now.

Doesn't work with my imported car.
The TCU is set for NA and needs to be EU to get connection at all.

I know. That's why I'm trying to find a manual to remove the TCU. So I can send it to the guy in Poland.

See attached.

Thanks Rugedraw. Any chance that you can see again if my car needs any updates and also when did my car do the last update?

I lost connection 6 months ago, and I'm curious if there was any update during that time.

I also did service my car here in Europe, and I wonder if they did some updates to my car through their own Ford software of yhere wss any update.

Ford recently made some changes to their cybersecurity system and I am no longer able to see which modules have pending updates. I can still see OTA history. In the past 180 days, they have tried to send you a PCM update 3 times which has failed since your car is not pinging the server back to accept it. The most recent attempt was on Nov 18th and that OTA trigger is still active, but it will expire in three days and look like the other previous attempts when it does.
