I got a letter on my 2024 GT Premium a couple of months ago with regards to the water leak at the cowl. To date, my car is still in storage but in a month or so I will be taking my car to the dealer for the repair. Can anyone give me an idea of what to expect. How long does the recall take? Has anyone experienced damage to the paint? Has anyone had issues that require more than sealing of the cowl? Any info you can give me would be appreciated.
Thanks!

My dealer said a morning to inspect and apply Ford's fix.
Other people have been told it takes longer.
Maybe Kiwi Techs work faster 😁

@armyGT ..... it involves removing the cowling and applying a sealant, which should be allowed to cure. A friends took a day and he had to clean excess sealant off his cowl. I have heard of misaligned cowls and damaged ones. I would ask my dealer if they had done one yet as I wouldn't want to be the first.

My dealer took about 3 hours to complete the recall which included the inspection, removal of cowl cover, applying the sealant, and allowing the sealant to set. I waited onsite. Simple and painless.

I have the TSB for the repair too but had not had it done yet as there was no evidence of water. Now, if the deal goes through, it will be traded on a 2026 so I'll let the dealer take care of it. I did speak with a dealer Tech I trust and he said the sealant was a polyurethane sealant that should be applied first thing in the morning and then sit until closing time to cure properly. This is a very big dealership and has plenty of room on their lot to leave a customer's car for the day. He did say to get it done in warm weather.

Yeah, they would have kept it all day but I wanted it as early as they would release it and still keep the recall/ warranty intact. I needed the car, lol. As far a curing time, depends on if it is an oil or water based poly sealant. I'm not sure off the top of my head. Most sealants skin over at 3-4 hours. Since the cowl covers this area, the heat from the engine and ventilation probably helped the curing. Full curing can take a week so, lol. Plus, they didn't find any leaks on the initial inspection on mine either.

Mine was inspected and no water ingress evidence. I have declined the 'bodge' repair and will leave the recall outstanding.

Thanks for the info on the recall. I had considered waiting on the repair but it may take longer than I expected. I'm hoping that sealing is all I need!
Keep the info coming...it will benefit others on this site who currently have cars in storage.

My '25 DH was built in August of 25. What dates does the recall cover. In other words, when did the correction hit production. I haven't received a recall notice.

This specific recall ID is 25V546000. Affected 2024 models were built at the Flatrock assembly plant from September 07, 2022 through November 04, 2024. Affected 2025 models were built at the Flatrock assembly plant from June 24, 2024 through July 14, 2025. You can run your VIN through the NHTSA recall tool to check for any active recalls. I also found this list of 2025 Ford recalls to be helpful.
