I'm not sure what "ghetto things" means to you, but then again, I don't want to know. In any event, applying a matte plastic coating to a small, shiny area of the dash is fundamentally no different than tacking on a small piece of felt, and probably would look better.
Rattle canning Plasti Dip on the interior of your new 50k car is the very definition of ghetto. And I dont get the impression the OP will want to remove the dash to prep the surface and spray it correctly.

Honestly im not a fan of either. But At least a quality dash cover will look clean and not like a cheap garage hack when that plasti dip eventualy starts to scratch and peel.

I still vote for sungless 😎.

If the sun is out I am wearing polarized sunglasses while driving, and I have never noticed any issues with glare.

Only glare I have ever noticed is from the chrome section on the steering wheel. But only very rarely. Polarized sunglasses are the way to go.

I notice more glare from the carbon fiber area then where this thing covers.
This. This is what I was trying to say. And you're right, I don't much fancy trying to take apart the dashboard even in much cooler weather. There currently isn't a clause in our HOA about British swearing in a Texas suburb, but that might be a way to both make it rattle and add the rule! :sunglasses: I don't have the patience, dexterity, or confidence.

As a sanity check, I borrowed some muted fake leather material from my wife's craft supplies and headed out into the sunshine to double check myself, as some comments in the thread were making me doubt I could see the glare. Here's the comparison - the felt isn't the size of the dashboard, it's quite a bit smaller, but makes a difference in the center of the image. It doesn't help that I used a wide angle picture. The dash itself isn't so bad (the black matte vinyl-like stuff) but the fake plastic carbon is the shiny stuff. And it's right in my eye line.

Polarized sunglasses is a definite option, thank you for the tip! I was hoping I'd find something on Etsy or Amazon that could cover the shiny stuff, but nothing so far. Getting a sponge-type brush and Plasti Dip isn't a permanent mistake up if I mess it up, and I suspect a brush stroke could catch the light and annoy me. A shame dash mats are just a little too short. I might grab our sewing machine and create something... I mean, how hard can it be?

Hello all! So I have an issue with my poverty pony specification '25 EcoBoost... Glare from the dashboard, specifically the shinier part of the dash closer to the wheel and not the more matte black soft touch section. I bought the car in September and I'd notice it occasionally, but now summer is approaching, well the sun in Texas jolly well appears to be high for 14 hours a day lol and I notice the glare all. the. time.

It's hard to take a picture of it because it only bothers me when I'm driving, but here's me avoiding using a drive-through lane because we British really struggle with the drive-through anything concept :like: and I tried to annotate the shiny bit causing the glare.

This mat on Amazon was the first one I found and might do the job, but does anyone else suffer the same reflection glare issue and are there smaller mats that might fix the issue available?

Polarized Sunglasses or you can maybe rip that shiny stuff off 😂😂😂 (would not recommend)
But, the polarized sunglasses - cheap cool looking ones you can find at Amazon, or you can buy some cool Gucci or Ray Bans - the choice is yours!
