Indeed read and quote all of what what I wrote not just small out of context bits. Very clear.

It is NOT location that is restricting them it is the hardware and firmware which is market specific.

If you cannot understand this then it is your loss not mine

In conclusion, unable to detail so don’t bother just accept what is and live with the lack of support? I guess Gm won’t be selling anything overseas due to the inability for ota? This is in reference to the other thread that mentioned they (gm) was thinking about voiding warranty coverage if the update wasn’t applied using ota within a 45 day period after release?

Is market specific due to location?

Im thinking the same, I haven't received any updates since I've had the car
If it’s a u.s. vehicle located in the u.s. it may be due to either battery state of charge (however that usually prevents the install not the download) or connectivity coverage. Our’s wouldn’t receive updates as long as it was parked in our garage (even though wifi is available - reiterating it’s cellular for ota). Our cell coverage (for our mobile phones - just used as a means to test signal availability/ reception) is poor (even though we’re not way out in the boondocks). Hide the car in the garage and i can kinda understand why it won’t get an update until we go for a drive. But here’s the problem, if by some anomaly the update becomes required to resolve a drivability issue - now what?

It would go to the Ford dealer for them to do it - as has been the case for decades.

Via rollback? Defeating the purpose of ota?

Btw: i could just manually roll it 10 feet and suddenly it’s able to receive signal so not sure a ford retrieval is absolutely necessary.

Well, it's kept in a garage most of the time, maybe I'll leave it out, and see what happens

Unless I am misunderstanding what you mean by rollback, dealers cannot roll back module firmware. They can reflash the existing firmware or update firmware, but they cannot roll it back. That can only be done with FORScan if you have a way source the files. From the vast majority of owner experiences reported on the forums including my own, dealers are rarely ever helpful with module updates. Ford does not pay them to update modules unless it is part of a recall or if the update will address a specific issue/customer complaint that they can use to bill Ford.

@Ande Most people who think they have issues getting OTA's do not. The problem is the OTA process sucks. Message me the VIN and I'll poke around to see if your connectivity is working correctly and I can check if you have been sent any updates or not.
