Oil pressure at warm up

At cold engine start up my oil pressure runs between 105-110.
Is that normal for a cold engine? And should I wait until it drops down in the normal range before driving?

1. Your oil pressure gauge isn't a real gauge (edit: mixed this up with the previous cars where it could be a pressure switch and not pressure sensor)

It's normal. Your oil won't get to "normal" temperatures just idling. Drive the car, watch the gauge and take note of how long it takes to get to normal driving temps. It take a while.

You're right, AZ_Ryan.

My bad on that but as his oil comes up to temp., the oil pressure will drop to "normal" as it warms up and thins out some. Hot oil flows quicker (viscosity) and pressure will fall back in to his "normal" zone. As we know, a cold engine will show higher pressure at idle until the oil heats up through driving. Long reply to my honest mistake.

That pressure is normal. No need to wait until driving.

On cold starts, I personally like to wait until the initial idle kick down (around 1k) before driving but that's just my OCD. It only takes about 30 seconds or so depending in ambient temps.

When I do a cold start I let it run through fast idle etc, plus a couple of minutes idling to get a bit of heat into it, then drive gently until water temp is up to normal.

So is AFR fake too then? I've been wondering if it's just narrowband chicanery and not actually a stock wideband O2 sensor onboard...

Wideband is real far as I know been that way on modern fords for a bit it how they do their flex fuel stuff on the f150
