They really cut the option available on the ecoboost, No more performance pack and magnaride. I wonder why.

I guess I was lucky to order my in 02/2024 since I was able to get these options.

My guess is that the current Ecoboost is going the way of the old V6. They did the same thing with reducing the options in its last year. Could 2026 be the year if the hybrid?

Any option that doesn't sell well seems to be cancelled by ford... no manual trans for 24 MY. The Ecoboost in base trim sells well (on the lot) as it is a cheap entry into a Mustang... by the time you add the high cost options it approaches the GT prices, which turns people off of the Ecoboost. Less options probably drives more sales of the GT... which ford probably prefers (higher profit margin?).

How many say " I should have bought a base v8 mustang". Too many lol. Ecoboost in the Focus was good. That's not an option anymore!

Not as many as you might think. I say this as a past owner of a ’15 EB. There have been some but there were many good reasons to buy the four banger. Except the sound, of course. 🤭👍

@Bikeman315 .... funny you should say that. I was in a big ford dealership looking at a 2024 dark Horse with a friend. They had an 2024 ecoboost for sale also. I overheard a salesman say he thought the days of the ecoboost were numbered.

It was a thing. Like Sofa King said, they won't move. Probably end up a hybrid. (Probably a 4 door). The V8 mustang will sell not like they used to, but they will until they don't exist.

They promote the new Dodge Charger as an Ev muscle car. Evs are fast but they are not a muscle car. To each his own. Imo an ecoboost mustang is not a muscle car either. I also understand times are changing. No offense to Ecoboost owners, I own an ecoboost f150 it's great. The 2024 mustang ecoboost averages 7 miles more per gallon than a V8 mustang.

I highly doubt anyone has ever said that the EB was a muscle car. But if you want to be totally accurate, the Mustang, in any guise, was never a "muscle" car. It was always considered a "pony" car, as was the Camaro, Cougar, Challenger, and Barracuda. The first muscle car was the GTO, followed by many others.

The GTO was not the first muscle car I believe it was Rambler who first started putting full size car engines in smaller mid size cars and the big three followed. Yes Wikipedia says GTO is now recognized as the first muscle car but it was not. Because now this generation thinks anything is a muscle car even EV's. You could say a 32 ford with the new flathead was a muscle car it was a new big engine in a mid sized car. However with the internet and the younger generation thinking nothing existed before them now a muscle car can be anything so sad.

I should have said first recognized muscle car. There were others like the 1949 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 and the 1955 Chrysler C-300. And then, as you so correctly stated, the 1957 Rambler Rebel.

It does seem like they removed a lot of the more fun options from the Ecoboost, which is strange. I don't think they'll kill it though - they need that gas mileage.

I'll say it again - I really don't think Ford is dumb enough to defeat an entire trim level this way. I mean, not even paddle shifters? Call me delusional but I feel like something else has to be coming.

I'd rather have a shifter that lets me go thru the gears rather than a paddle shift

I have downshifted 3 gears thinking I was flashing my high beams at someone to tell them to come across the intersection.

My Toyota has a shifter that when you move it to the left to go into manual mode it drops a gear as you do it, then it is just a nudge forward or back on the shifter to row thru the gears.

I guess Ford wants us to have speed of light gear changes

I was more focused on the total lack of control of the transmission now that the Performance Pack has been deleted. I prefer the manual myself, but to not even so much as have any option to change gears yourself, to me eliminates the fun factor.

Take the fun out of the sports car, and it becomes... a car.

Hockey, football and Lacrosse have made manual shifting a "pain" for me so I welcomed the 10R80 with its lightening fast gear shifts (faster than anyone can shift a 6 speed manual) that can also be altered by changing modes. Yes, I too have shifted a paddle (downshift) thinking it was the windshield wiper (and scared the $hit out of myself as I was doing 120 kph at the time) but the paddles do allow for some fun shifting, particularly in city driving. There's nothing like a crisp paddle downshift with the attendant Mustang "barking" when a approaching a red light to scare the $hit out of the owners of BMWs waiting at the light. That's one of the perks of the V8 mustang.
