Well, they all are American right? So that doesn't make them illegal.
Hey don't have to convince me lol convince people who had such a problem with illegal immigrants in the past. If everyone is American, then they'd get access to american jobs, american houses, american QoL, which I'm ok with. It's the people who seemed to think that they were stealing them from current american citizens who have a problem with it

@kagemusha2662 Canada is a distraction, but it might as well be ours

This scenario unironically would lead to china becoming the number one most powerful nation state for decades, if not centuries. It would also lead to russia becoming much more powerful than its current form. This scenario where we get canada, Greenland, and Mexico would not benefit America at all LOL

We have the same joke here in Europe.

- First people complain that there are illegal immigrants who are not paying taxes.
- When they become legal immigrants, they complain that they are not working and profiting from all social benefits.
- When they find a job they complain about stealing their jobs.
- When they move out of those social housing/projects and buy nice properties they complain they are stealing their houses.

It's hard to be an immigrant LOL. You can't do nothing good.
You don't work, they complain. You work, they complain.

We get mars though 👀
that's the thing, we won't be alive for mars :)

edit: and even if you do, in that scenario above, you'd be flying to mars on a chinese made rocket powered by chinese chips. hope you love firefly since that universe essentially had china as the main power that won out in the technology race

Agreed, my parents both emigrated to America and when anti asian sentiment went up during covid, they were greatly discriminated against. this is despite both of them being hard working citizens for decades, paying taxes, going to local city council meetings. Doesn't matter to some people, it's just about complaining and blaming immigrants. It's just crazy to me because we are a nation of immigrants and we are all the same flesh and blood, but people just want to find someone to blame for their situations. And the rich have managed to avoid that blame by convincing everyone to blame it on immigrants.

Going to copy and paste my answer from another thread...well regurgitate anyways....

Mustang used to be a cheap crappy car with a solid motor that most could afford then have fun modifying over time - modifying them is what made owning them fun

Now they are awesome cars - but almost fully cooked if you know what I mean and you pay the price for that

A fully loaded GT in the late 80s/early 90s was something like less then half the cost of a fully loaded 3 series - now I think the GT is more then a fully loaded 3 series BMW (would have to check)

The issue is while Ford raised the bar on 90% of the stuff- and while the interior is good - go sit in an M2 and compare it to a Dark Horse ...the interior in the BMW is just nicer ....sorry (the quality of the interior sucks compared to the M2 also so dont take this as an S550 guy slamming the S650)

I think the solution is to make Mustangs crappy again (but cheap) (and so you can tune them)

I still remember when adding headers got you 25hp on a fox body - its what made it fun

Stangnet back in the day- the threads were all about what headers- what cylinder heads- what shifter- what rear end - which sub frame connectors - what gears - which intake - exc....

Now the threads are about what screen protector are you using - cameras- shift knobs - panel gaps and why do sales suck -

modifications are basically...do you want a whipple or do you not want a whipple ...thats it
Have you driven an M2 manual? I did, actually twice and really tried to like it.
had a deal worked out to order for $3k under msrp. Wife said it’s the ugliest car, don’t buy
the car is boring! No visceral feel! Stick shift is inferior, Same interior as my wife’s X5. Ended up with the DH and I’m happy about it even with some shitty body alignment.

The Ford 5.0L Mustang GT "Coyote" V8 engine is presently built at Ford’s Essex Engine Plant in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. I’m uncertain whether today’s tariff announcement applies to engines or is limited to fully assembled vehicles.
Vehicles and parts. However, USMCA-compliant parts are exempt

We're in a weird spot right now where inflation is already high but unemployment is high as well. Lowering interest rates will increase employment, but it will also lead to an increase in inflation which has shown over the past 4 years to generally outpace wage increases. In the last Fed meeting, Powell seemed to indicate that the tariff uncertainty will lead to a more hawkish stance rather than a dovish stance, which is what they didn't want to do because they as well as most people do want interest rates down. I think if there were no tariffs and inflation was truly going down, interest rate cut would have happened in March and even more in subsequent months.
Except unemployment isn't high. And are we in Econ 101 or a Mustang forum? 😉

it rose in the last couple months. largely driven by layoffs in government sector. this and also the fact that private sector is freezing hiring (you can find evidence of this if you work within the tech industry, just as an example) means the fed is seeing shaky numbers in the future. Again unemployment rate is weird, I'm still not fully read up on what exact number the fed wants to see for unemployment (my guess is around 3%). And true, this is a Mustang forum, but the original question is about why Mustang sales are down and the thought was because it was due to interest rates, when I'm not entirely sure that is the case :)

edit: if you want to discuss why more and more companies are not hiring, i'd be happy to discuss in a PM as I have quite a lot of visibility into 3 of the mag 7 companies. If not, hint: it has to do with AI and the direction these top companies want the entire economy to move in general (not just tech)

layoffs are pointing that it’s here.

The unemployment rate as of February 2025 was 4.1%.

In February 2024 it was 3.9%.

An unemployment rate between 4.5%-5.5% is generally considered normal in a healthy economy by historical data.

The statement made that I was responding to was that "unemployment is high". While there was a spike with the government layoffs, anything under 4.5% is most certainly not "high".

Fed is forward looking. They see something going on. And the numbers don’t reflect that because the numbers reflect it during the current month. Again look up the private sector jobs numbers vs how many layoffs have happened. Writing is on the wall
