Those are for the tower brace....which your car apparently did not include that option. But if you ever do decide to add the brace, wa-la, you have bolts in place already.
@decidave8 , respectfully get the strut - your Mustang will love you for it. If you do so, I suggest you torque the nuts in stages (half torque and wait a half hour then final torque to spec slowly) to avoid any potential to twist the studs.
One comment. I bought an after-market brace from American Muscle for my 2024 Eco-Boost. It fits, it works, but there is an issue. Depending on the year, either plug 2 or plug 3 can't be removed without removing the brace. That's fine for a gear head, but imagine paying about 2 additional hours of labor sometime in the future?
@Alan Applegate ..... 100% Alan. Great Head's-Up. I have also been told by my dealer that to remove the top engine cover on my 2024 GT, without breaking it, they would have to remove the factory strut brace. If this is true, it is IMO still well worth having that brace. BTW - the nuts to secure the strut brace are ONE use nuts as they are coated and one use for torque purposes as well. If anyone knows in advance that you will need to remove your strut brace pre-order the nuts. When we removed the strut brace from my friend's 2014 (to repaint it black) it took 4 weeks to get the nuts - granted this was at the end of COVID but I bought a pack the other day for my 2024, just to have them handy, and it took a week for them to arrive. BTW - it is easy to R&R the strut brace (don't need the dealer to do it) just be very careful when re-torquing. Do it in stages and go slowly as to not twist the stud. On an older stang if there is crud on the posts clean them well or that could twist them and never, ever put any thread lubricant on the posts or you will almost certainly over torque and twist/snap the posts.
