I listen to podcasts a lot on my iPhone. It works in other cars. It "works" in my Dark Horse, but not very well.

I have the Bang & Olufson system.

When I listen to the podcast, it is difficult to hear the persons speaking. At times, I have to turn the volume up all the way to the maximum to hear the persons speaking.

So last night, I hop in the wife's 2025 Ford Explorer ST, also with Ford's Bang & Olufson system, to take the family out.

My podcast came on automatically because my phone was in the car. It was amazing. It was much clearer. It was very, very easy to hear. Most importantly, the volume was barely on.

So what is wrong with my Dark Horse that is not wrong with my wife's similar Ford product?

Is it some setting that I am not aware of?

Is the Dark Horse's B&O sound system just that much worse than the Explorer B&O sound system?

I checked her bass, mid, and treble, etc. Both were basically the same (because I set them both). Both were set to "surround."

I am stumped.

Can anybody help?

That’s an odd situation. Long story short…I have a similar situation on my home TV surround system. One receiver has trouble with low volume level on one station, yet fine on my other receiver.

Some things to try….

1) try a sync reset?

2). Try listening to the podcasts in Stereo Mode?

3) Try another Podcast app. I use Castbox. It has come on in my car and sounds fine with my B&O system.

4) Try pushing your balance fader all the way to the front.

5). Replace center speaker with wither the 8 ohm Dayton or the 4 ohm Infinity. The 4 ohm should give you more vocal presence. I’m not a fan of replacing an 8 ohm speaker with a 4 ohm, but others have done it and it seems to do no harm.

Good luck!

Mine is slightly toward the back, and that is one thing I forgot to confirm on the Explorer, but I think I set hers up the same way slightly toward the back as well.

Turn up the volume on your phone. That's what I had to do.
Thanks, but I have tried turning it up both on the side of the phone and in the iTunes App on the face of the podcast (which both do the same thing, I have verified independently of each other). I have that all the way up.

:frown:

Are the Explorer and Mustang B&O systems so different?

Uh, I like podcasts. I also like to hear my car. The car wants proper attention......

I find myself constantly turning down the music to hear the symphony coming out the tailpipes…lol.

But Podcasts have their place. Especially in long trips. I used to have a long commute to work, but that was a long time ago when podcasts were not a thing. I ended up listening to Sports Talk radio, anything…because listening to hours and hours of music was too much.

I will need to test more, but it appears that the problem was that I had the center of the balance too far back. Setting it closer to the front (like right behind the front headrests on the screen) may have solved the problem.

If this turns out to be it, then Starship Enterprise may have identified the problem (although I did not need to move it all the way to the front).

Of course, not driving in Track Mode helps a lot, too. 😆

Hands down my favorite podcast is Conan Needs A Friend. In long format, he is funnier than I had ever thought from just watching him on TV. I mean you will laugh hard, and it doesn’t even matter who the guests are.

2nd favorite is the Fly on the Wall podcast with David Spade and Dana Carvey interviewing SNL guests and cast and listening to all the great stories of behind the scenes.

I don't know about iPhone but for android there is an app called VLC that lets you adjust your volume setting to 200 percent on your phone. With Android auto this correspondingly raises your car audio 200 percent. Although you can get some distortion above 150 percent on songs with heavy bass. Listening to podcasts generally has no distortion.

Maybe there is a similar app for iphone.
