Mustang S650 Audio/Volume problem

Hello everyone, I recently got my s650 ecoboost 3 weeks ago. There are some times that my audio/volume will be totally gone. The music/radio is playing or working but when I turn the knob on, the volume stays on 0. I called the dealer and they told me to bring it in. But sometimes the audio comes back before the appointment. Any thoughts on why is this happening? Has this been an issue even with previous generation? Thanks alot!

Could happen on every car, or home stereo for that matter. Bad pot. Easily replaceable even for a DIYer, but if it was my car I would take it in for a replacement head unit.

My daughter's Nissan had the same problem, luckily it was just a dirty pot, a little electronics spray cleaner was all it took, rock solid since 2017.

Yes I am scheduled for the dealer to take a look at it. I hope theyll changed the headunit. I know itll just keep coming back.

That happened to me once, but I had accidentally hit the mute button. As soon as I turned the car off and back on, the music was back.

I would bet it's not a typical pot but an optical encoder. A dirty wiper on a pot causes noise when adjusting so is a poor choice these days for that purpose.

I tried everything. Even restarting to factory settings. The last time it happened, it came back after 2 days. Evem the welcome sound went back to old sound from s550

Happened to me. I had a loud beeping sound then a pop sound first though. It didn’t start working until the next morning. Haven’t had an issue since. Someone posted in my post about it on FB on one of the S650 pages and believes it was something to do with the Bluetooth connection. I reset it all even though things came back. Maybe worth a shot.

Had this same problem over the weekend..worked Friday stopped on Saturday. I just did a battery reset and then head unit reset (volume down/right arrow on steering wheel for a few seconds) and now it works. Hope this helps.
