I'm not taking mine in when you can just check the BCM by removing the glove box (2 minute job) and check for water intrusion. I live in the Northwest where it rains everyday and my car sits outide at work. I check it once a month and not a drop of water anywhere.
Can you see the BCM, cables and surrounding area with just the glove box removed or do you need to remove the sill and then the kick panel ? Thanks!

9 months and 5k miles on my DH. Couple times in the rain, probably 50 washes.. no water. No way dealership monkeys are touching my car unless it’s something I can’t fix myself.
I traded my Mach 1 in with brake fluid recall without issue

you can both sell and trade a vehicle with a recall. No sale only applies to new vehicles with incomplete recalls.

Looks like it's not seated correctly or they broke a clip. Pop the hood and check the fasteners. Might be an easy fix.
Checked those. They are all seated.

I am reluctant to take my Dark Horse in for the recall because of things just like this. The car is garage kept and has never seen any water. I had it ceramic coated when I got it and only use the spray cleaner that was recommended by the installer....I think I will take my chances...
Same here!!!

Do it for the next owner unless your going to keep it till you die.

..... a lot of great suggestions on this forum, as usual. I'll add the following. My GT is stored for the winter. Received my recall notice for this flaw a few weeks ago. My Ford dealership told me I could have the "repair" done in the spring. I was at another big Ford dealership today that moves a lot of Mustangs and asked what happens if I don't want it done. After they replied, why not - which we discussed - I was told some of what has already been mentioned: my Mustang would not be accepted by them as a future trade with an open recall against it .... AND - not repairing it could easily result in failed warranty claim(s) of any components in the "vicinity" of the flawed recall area - if I wanted the area "repaired" later (like if I wanted to trade it in two years from now) I would likely have to pay for the cost myself as recalls are not open ended. Not sure what I'll do - I'm leaning towards not having the "repair" done as I have heard comments, like on this forum, of poor workmanship.

Safelite did that to my 23 when they did the windshield. They bottom seal was warped from sitting on itself when the windshield was stored. They had to redo the windshield with another replacement that didnt have a warped bottom seal. Second one was better but the gap was never perfect like it was from the factory.

ifn your scenario, I think they just didnt snap in the cowl into the seal. Unless they had to remove the windshield. But if not, then they need to reinstall it correctly. It just tucks into the seal. That needs to be done first before the part that goes under the hood is pushed down.

I got the same recall on my 24GT. The problem is that you can't sell or trade with an open recall. My car is in winter storage right now but when it comes out in the spring I will get it done to protect myself in the future.
I'm not doing mine before the spring. It doesn't leave the garage if the roads are wet. I want everyone to get theirs done, so mine isn't the guinea pig! Doesn't sound nice, but I always have a healthy distrust of dealers and their mechanics. Glenn

I have a DH too, I'm doing the same... It never sees rain.

I am hesitant to allow them to do the recall because they need to take out the window for it. I'll just do my own check while it's in hibernation to see if the BCM is getting wet, which I doubt it is...

Removing the glass requires re calibration of the ADAS and I read somewhere, but can't find the reference right now that Ford mandates that not only OE glass be used in any replacement but if it is Reaction Injection Molded (RIM) glass that is used in some cars, and I know the Mach E is one of them, it can not be removed and reinstalled. The glass is single use only.

I agree with @dmwphoto. @MAT1955 may have been told something at that one particular dealer, but generally speaking, nothing stops you from selling a car.

Perhaps the dealer meant that if you never do it and the recall expires, they may not want the car, but who knows what one particular bozo meant and his motivation? Dealers get paid for recall work...
