It’s time to sell the GT 💝

…but for happy reasons. Our first child will be born in about five months and, as we are prepping our lives for our new addition, I’m going to have to sell my 24 GT PP (we are keeping my wife’s ‘17 since it’s paid off and there is a loan on mine). Now that I’m starting to search the market I am wondering: What would you choose for a replacement car if you were having to buy a four-door vehicle?

Do you expect your family to continue to grow? If so, an SUV might make more sense so you're not flipping vehicles every couple of years.

I love riding, but with a baby depending on you may want to reconsider the CBR while you're at it. I'm not questioning your skill as a rider - just every other driver out there who is texting and having a Big Mac while not noticing motorcycles.

A '24 GMC Acadia is my "responsible" car and I love it. It's the biggest car in my fleet with the smallest engine. Makes me appreciate summer driving all the more!

I hate that your CBR advice is honestly good advice.
My wife and I aren’t yet decided if we will have a second so a possible second child isn’t really factoring into my vehicle choice. A thought with the RS is that they appear to be holding their value pretty well for ones with a clean history. Range anxiety is def a factor for me choosing a BEV like the BMW but it was a fun and quick (but heavy) car when I last played with one.

I hear ya. If you have the means get the RS and go bigger if your family grows. For shits and giggles, bring a car seat with you and practice loading/unloading before you buy.

Kids are money pits, so I tend to lean conservative here. I'm in New England so the range-sucking cold means I haven't looked at EVs, so I'm no help there.

I daily'd a 2005 Mustang GT until my kids were too big then went to a 2013 Charger Super Bee with 392. It was FANTASTIC. Super reliable and for regular street driving it drove like a 4 door Mustang (obviously won't exactly corner like one).

A baby and/or toddler fits fine in the GT but I get it. My toddler loves riding in mine. I do have another car specifically for kid hauling though.

If I had to go a different route for my GT, my short list is a Ranger Raptor, Regular Raptor, 3 Series or wait a few months and see if GM drops more news on the next Alpha platform sedans.

Ford Explorer ST. Charge Pipes, Down Pipes, IC, Tune. You will feel like your 24 never left, but now you have 4 doors, a hatch, and can actually carry things comfortably! Baby and the wife in the back? NO WORRIES! By yourself and the rando wanna be fast roll up? NO WORRIES! Want to take that long winding curve to the on-ramp at speed? No (well, slight worry, drive within your limits!) but it CAN be done!
