Thank you! The licence plate is on so it doesn't look so clean now, but Texas requires a front plate and I could really do without being pulled over with my British accent!
Welcome to the place. I went without a front plate in Texas for four years in my first GT. I got pulled over for it, was very nice to the cop and he just verbally asked me to put a front plate on. I said, "OK" and we went on our way. The front plate was in my trunk where it stayed. I've never put a front plate on a car and never will. That's the only stop I've ever had for it. If they charge you, the penalty is low.

All I think about when states require front plates is simply... Revenue!

I did a search on the net, and here is one reason some states require front plates. It is indeed an oxymoron statement if you think about it: Having a front plate allows officers to verify vehicle information before approaching, enhancing safety during traffic stops.

After owning 3 minivans, my wife and I shopped for SUVs for a few months, test-driving several of them and deciding on one to order. Then I rented a BMW convertible on vacation (just the 2 of us, left the kids at home) and she decided that she wanted to look at convertibles. Of course, the BMW and Mercedes convertibles are expensive and the Camaro is no longer made, so I set up a test drive for a Mustang GT convertible. She fell in love with it, with plenty of room in the trunk for a couple suitcases, sufficient legroom for the kids in the back seat, and the sound of the V8 (which is all I've ever had for my cars).

We saw that 2026 had a few new colors, as she wasn't thrilled with any of the current colors, and went bonkers over the Adriatic blue. So we ordered a Mustang GT Premium convertible on 7/14 with an initial build date the week of 9/8. It has been pushed back a few times, now scheduled for the week of 10/20. We ordered the Space Gray seats, Active Exhaust, 401A package, 10-speed auto, and 19X8.5" premier polished aluminum wheels. It'll be her daily driver along with going out shopping/dates/vacations. I have a 2025 Pontiac GTO that's been mildly modified that's my daily driver with 192k miles, so we'll see who's car is faster and louder. :)

I can think of a few... some of these are tongue-in-cheek
  • it's a better radar reflector than a modern car shape
  • it's useful for toll road cameras
  • it protects the front from touch parking against tow balls
Cutting to the chase... yes sir, it does seem pointless to have a mahoosive big metal plate hanging off the front, but neither the police officer or I set the law or determine the rules, so I'm going to hang one on there in the off chance that I'm ever stopped, it was for something that might make a decent story later. "Surely I wasn't speeding, Officer, I'm returning over 30mpg..."

Hi! Long time Ford truck guy here. I finally got tired of trying to find the perfect low mile Mustang and pulled the trigger on ordering my dream GT car. Loaded manual Premium GT Convertible White/Carmine/Bronze. It is a '26 but the 401A protects from some of the cuts. Should be ready Febish. Perfect time for the summer tires!:like:

They revenuers like front plates for plate readers too. They're all over the place automated looking for people with warrants.

Good morning everyone. New guy here. I just picked up a brand new GT last Thursday in grabber blue. Plans are to put a whipple on it with supporting mods and just enjoy. This will primarily be my summer and weekend toy. I am looking forward to learning a lot from everyone!

We always approached from the rear, with the patrol car shielding us as we talked to the driver.
I defy anyone to read a front plate at a closing speed of 200kmh or more.
It must be about revenue then.

Hello guys. Thank you for accepting my membership. I’m the happy owner of a 2019 supercharged mustang gt.
Welcome and congratulations. My Mustang is supercharged as well. Which one do you have and how are you liking it? :)
