Yikes, $750 !!! Is that per cat?
Quality costs money.

Everybody wants cheap crap.

If you think it can be done for half of that, then get to work. You will be a future multimillionaire after becoming the sole source provider for all of the aftermarket high performance, high horsepower cars. I am certainly not going to say it can't be done and place limits on you. Maybe the price is only a reflection of a lack of meaningful competition in the market place. Take advantage of the opportunity you see to fill a need that is not being met.

What are we looking at?

Which ones are which?
The pictures show the inside, the honeycomb structure, of two cats side-by-side.

Left side is an F150's, probably something matching what most of us have when using a NA Coyote. Right side is the GT500. Notice the 500's is more free-breathing, capable of handling the exhaust flow of the Predator (760 HP) or other boosted engine of the same power.

remember the engineering that goes into these, as well as materials. these have to withstand being heated to 1100F-1700F every day for years upon years, sometimes under lots of stress, and other times barely any, all while reducing the engine emissions to water vapor and CO2. three-way cats also use platinum ($65/g right now), palladium ($50/g right now), and rhodium ($370/g right now). catalytic converters are amazing bits of engineering

I wonder why nobody is using these when upgrading GT Mustangs with turbos or superchargers?

Also, GESI makes these aftermarket cats it advertises for high performance.

https://www.gsportbygesi.com/

Note the GT500 photos for marketing . . .

And here are their cats:
https://www.gsportbygesi.com/g-sport-emissions-systems-products

They have inlet outlet diameters from 2.5" up to 4" with several different cell counts and a few different interior structures. They also carry different horsepower ratings, 500 hp, 850, 1000, and 1200. Note that the 1200 hp rating is per cat, meaning per exhaust bank, 1200 hp from the 4 cylinders on the passenger side, and the same for the four cylinders exhausting on the driver's side.
Is that 1200 HP for a 1/4 mile, or a 30 minute track session in summer, with "detune" built in if CHT (inferring somewhat, EGT I assume) temps get too high?

Unfortunately, I do not know the answers to these questions.

Google tells me the S-wound cats can handle sustained 1700°

i'm out. i'm not interested in playing Ford's games here. i already deal with their nonsense enough at work. for a car starting at $103k, you have the wonderous color options of:
blue
grey
blue
grey
white
red
black

that's just depressing...

Good news is rocket, it’ll probably have better colors and options a few years in (and less ADM). So I’m hoping you’ll still be able to get one when it makes sense

yeah, maybe a 2028 or something, but i'm not holding my breath. Ford seems to have gotten so full of themselves and i'm getting less interested in funding their delusions

you know what, i think the colors deserve more fitting names for the SC
Adriatic "sick at sea" Blue
Avalanche "remember the good times pls" Grey
Argon "shit, this wasn't as good of a seller on the super duty as we hoped so we're putting this on everything" Blue
Carbonized "depressing grey made ever so slightly bearable by the metallic" Grey
Oxford "named after a college you'll never get into because you let us extort $100k out of you" White
Race "this color is a direct translation of Ferrari's Rosso Corsa color name" Red
Shadow "you can only keep it clean by keeping it in the garage, which you were gonna do anyway" Black

You are bitter, and not the least bit afraid of anyone else knowing it.
#Respect.

I believe Race Red is very close to or equal to the Red Ducati uses. Which, coincidentally is identical to the shade that Toro uses - I had one of their snow blowers before I moved to a climate where humans were meant to live. Exact match to Ducati red in every light.

Look at how much time you'll save not having to upkeep these boring colors by not buying the DHSC.

yeah, i may be just a little bitter.
to be honest, i was mainly looking forward to the brakes, especially the carbon ceramics. maybe in a couple model years i'll fold over and compromise my stance and get an SC, if the colors are better and the i am able to afford it. or maybe i'll just retrofit the SC brakes, put a Whipple Stage 2 and enjoy that instead. no idea yet, frustration is too high to tell today

At least be grateful Ford hasn't rolled out shelter baby vomit green to the Mustang.
