Yesterday my pre collision took the braking over for the first time and I'm happy it did.

Car in front of me slammed the brakes from 30mph to 0 instantly on an empty road, just to let a car get on the road who was waiting on a small side road.

I applied the brakes but I felt that some heavier brakes were applied than what I pressed. I also saw some res screen on the display but hadn't much time to see what that actually was.
Yes the AEB pre-loads the braking system and then also activates the brake assist function. In most cases most drivers never apply the brakes hard enough in an emergency to activate the ABS on a dry road - brake assist makes sure the car does.

My rear brake assist activated for the first time yesterday on my driveway - a daffodil had flowered and leaned over and my car was about to hit it. I'm pleased to say the daffodil is completely fine as a result.

Joking aside - it could have been a more solid object and the car would have saved itself from damage.

In track mode it is always off
Thanks, I should have thought of that. Makes sense.

My cars roll exclusively in track mode, period (forgive the redundancy). So that would explain it.

How to keep pre collision off, I am about to get rid of this gt because of how annoying it is. I turn it off and when I start Car back on it’s on. Please help it is ruining this car because of how harsh this breaking it is when I get close to a car, worst setting ever

All due respect, If you're talking about adaptive cruise maybe you should set it to 1 and not tailgate.

According to the FPRS Mustang Unleashed program during their Ballon Car braking demo. If the car senses any human input, wheels or pedals, brake assist will not activate as it assumes that you are paying attention. You will get the warnings, but the car should not emergency auto-brake. Tested and proven in their demonstration in which we did this multiple times without fail, so I would assume that either there's an issue with your car or some form of driver error.

As Bikerman315 points out the manual notes the following:
If your vehicle is rapidly approaching potential hazards the system provides the following levels of functionality:
1. Alert. (Flashing and audible alerts)
2. Brake support. (Loads up the brakes, but does not brake)
3. Automatic emergency braking. (brakes as you indicate is happening, but only after the other two and if no driver input is detected)

Mine was really twitchy at first and the hold feature freaked me out. It did adapt over time and is behaves much better, just turn down the sensitivity in settings.

So what we have here is a RTFM issue. Pages 249-255.

Also see:
“Note: Automatic emergency braking and evasive steering assist automatically turn on every time you start your vehicle.”

I’ve tried to turn this off when going through the settings and noticed it does turn itself back on. Though I haven’t even experienced this in my ~1500 miles with the car. I’d wager either the sensors on the car have an issue or, to put it lightly, the driver is not very good at driving.

Gonna go to the dealer sometime next week. Taking a trip to Brazil. Appreciate all the feedback everyone but today was the the last straw. Had a cake on my passenger seat and out of nowhere the car breaked so hard and the cake flew.
Maybe try putting the cake on the floor instead? I kinda figure if it aint buckled and it’s on the seat it’s gonna end up on the floor the first time i get …. err aggressive
