That's a possibility, yes, but not every problem is fixed by updating module firmware.
We're beating a dead horse here. Sorry for the reference :like:

I will probably pop for the $50 2-day FDRS subscription and perform all outstanding updates over this weekend. I believe I have a few out there for my F1050 as well, so I might as well get my money's worth out of it!

You'll need one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B097NHQ7ZW

And a 2-day subscription for FDRS: FJDSSupport - FordServiceInfo.Com (motorcraftservice.com)

Have a USB thumb drive handy, too, as an update might have to be done that way and not using the Mongoose.
Over my head and level of interest. I have also just about given up on the OBDII scanner software (FORScan). It still doesn't "fully" support 2024MY Ford vehicles.

I'm a retired software/network guy. I'm thinking I should stay that way - RETIRED.

At first, FORScan seems daunting. But it's not. Oh, and all the new generation or new models take time for FORScan to be able to support them. That's just how it works.

FDRS and Mongoose? Just as daunting at first, and just as easy later on. @rugedraw has a couple of these that he loans out free of charge (deposit required up front, which is refunded when you return the Mongoose). But I think the waiting list on them is a couple months out.

@DCS - I just noticed that you live in Ocala. I was literally down in Cedar Key for the last week!

Hell, had I known this, I would have brought the Mongoose with me and you could have driven over!

Can you do more than one car with the FDRS subscription? Maybe let us know what updates you found... I was thinking it may be too soon to get money's worth... but if important updates available and multiple cars are OK, I may do this too.

The core modules of interest are the Body Control Module (BCM) and Powertrain Control Module (PCM). However, there are multiple sub modules (depending on the car build), some of which are referenced below. The BCM, PCM and sub modules can have their own firmware version.

FDRS is what the Ford techs use, yes; it will list all modules, their status and firmware.

BCM#1 is located in the interior.

BCM#2 is in the trunk.

The PCM is under the hood.

The module linking the car to the outside world is the GateWay Module (GWM). One side is an OBD port, the other, the Controller Area Network (CAN) for the car.

ABS - Anti-Lock Brake System
ACK - ACKnowledgment (See CAN message format, ISO 11898)
ACM - Audio Front Control Module (DACMC, Radio, CD, Speakers)
APIM - Accessory Protocol Interface Module (SYNC, steering controls, radio, NAV)
BCM - Body Control Module
BCMA - BCM (Interior, right side, near floor)
BCMB - BCM (Trunk, right side, near wheel well)
BECMB - Battery Energy Control Module B (RCM, SRS. Turns off fuel in crash.)
BLIS - Blind Spot Information System
BMS - Battery Management System
CAN - Controller Area Network (See also LIN)
CCM - Cruise Control Module
CRC - Cyclic Redundancy Check (See CAN message format, ISO 11898)
DACMC - Digital Audio Control Module-C (ACM, Radio, CD, Speakers)
DCSM - Dual Climate Seat Module (Seating Climate Control)
DCT - Dual-Clutch Transmission (Paired, electronically-controlled manuals)
DDM - Driver Door Module (Keyless Entry)
DIAG1 - A physical link, connecting LHD and RHD DLC/GWMs
DIAG2 - A physical link, connecting LHD and RHD DLC/GWMs

DSM - Driver Seat Module (Seat Memory, Power)
DSP - Audio Digital Signal Processor (DSP) Module
ECM - Engine Control Module (PCM)
ECU - Engine Control Unit (PCM)
EOF - End Of Frame (See CAN message format, ISO 11898)
FCIM - Front Controls Interface Module (Center Console Push-Button Controls)
GSM - Gear Shift Module (GT500 Only)
GWM - GateWay Module (DLC, OBDII, LHD and RHD)
HS-CAN - High-Speed Controller Area Network (1,2,3 and 4)
HSWM - Heated Steering Wheel Module
HUD - Head-Up Display Module
ICM - Information Center Module
ID - IDentifier (See CAN message format, ISO 11898)
IPC - Instrument Panel Cluster
IPMA - Image Processing Module A (Camera, Lane Departure)
ISO - International Organization for Standardization (See CAN message, ISO 11898)
LHD - Left-Hand Drive (DLC, GWM, LHD and RHD OBDII linked via DIAG1 and 2)
LIN - Local Interconnect Network (low-cost, low-speed, low-reliability CAN supplement)
MRCMA - Movable Roof Control Module, Primary (Convertible Roof)
MRCMB - Movable Roof Control Module, Secondary (Convertible Roof)

FDRS is not locked to a vehicle. Its the same SW that the techs use @ the dealership.

I know what the software is... just haven't used the short term license with the Ford software. The GM module update software (SPS2) limits you to one vehicle on the short term subscription, unless you pay for the second one (or more), that's why I asked

Nothing ties it to a vehicle. It's the exact same SW techs use, just time limited based on the subscription.

Really? Interesting. And, crappy at the same time. With FDRS, you can update as many modules on as many vehicles as you can within the allotted time period.

Though once you pay for one vehicle, the updates are available for 2 years, so that is nice... but then they charge separately for the diagnostic software with the usual 3-day, month or year subscription... although that can be used for multiple vehicles.
