What's the best radar detector that doesn't cost $600 + (uniden 8)

I get on it a little on on ramps, and then the occasional open highway. I do run a radar detector with highway radar which uses crowd sourcing for cops just in case.

I got the r4. It's around half the price of the 8. From what I've read it's got the same long range antenna as the r8, just doesn't have the arrows. I just slow down when the ka band is going off. Doesn't matter much to me what direction it's coming from.

Thank you for this. I was looking at the 7 but it's good to know that previous models are just as good. Do you have a mirror mount or just use the auction cups?

For now I have a suction mount and have it tapped into the mirror power. I'm probably going to get a cheap mirror mount from Amazon and try that out.

I set my adaptive cruise control to +9, and let it do its thing. I also have an escort radar detector that also has a laser detector, WI state troopers run laser. If it goes off, jump on the brakes NOW. I live in the country, on a 2 lane country road. We see a squad maybe once a month. Open it up On this road.
