I just picked up my 2024 Mustang GT PP and I was wondering if it's worth getting the hood vent rain guards for it or it doesn't really matter. Never had a car with hood vents and I'm not sure how it works.

Nice!! Water through the hood vents doesn't hurt anything. Assuming the engine is cool, I just bunch a couple bath towels under the hood when I wash the car.

I don't drive mine in the rain/snow, though it would not be an issue, plus you will notice it gets extremely hot under this hood, dries out fast

I've had my car for a few seasons now and never experienced an issue. Never seen any meaningful amount of water under the hood.

When you consider the amount of water, mud, dirt and debris going into the wheel wells and undercarriage, especially during highway driving, what makes it into the hood vents is not moving the needle.

On the GT500, they did make a hood-specific rain tray, but that hood design is way more open than a GT's.

Edit,

My vents are different, but when washing, I do one thing to prep: I let the car cool first. The hood can trap a lot of heat. If it's a wash day, I open the hood and let the engine cool 30 mins before washing, to prevent rapid evaporation and water spots. Also the brakes naturally cool. As to the vents, I leave them as-is. Rinsing, soap mitts across vents, etc., has no meaningful impact.

Long-term big picture wise, Ford studies and considers such things, especially in places like the PAC NW, where rain and humidity are heavy. No special care or consideration required.

As a side light... I'd like t see Ford add hood vents to the Eco-Boost too. I'm not quite ready to buy one for my Eco-Boost, however.

Hood vent? You mean my snow holder? Come to think of it... That might actually be a pretty handy spot to run my block heater out of if I can figure out a way to route it without worrying about getting the cord caught in any fans or belts 🤔🤔🤔

Check the nuts under the hood that hold the vent on I had one fall off then I noticed they were all loose, car in the showroom floor had hand tight nuts in there as well when I was at the dealership yesterday as well
